Try to start with the basics- particularly things that get you in the mindframe of what exactly it means to be lucid, in your dreams.
What I mean by this is, try to harbor the idea that in the dream, nothing exists. You're not real, your body isn't there. Doors don't really exist- and there is absolutely nothing behind them. Understand that this means that anything you want can be present or absent on a whim. All you have to do is to want something to work, because it's your dream, and there are no rules or laws except "What I want, happens."
For starter goals, try basic things like reality checking. Push your finger through your palm. Think about what this means- "This means my finger isn't real, my hand does not exist, I am in a dream, I am in my own dream, in my own head, and nothing around me is real. I can do whatever I want." Branch out, while reminding yourself what lucidity means. Try pushing your hand through a different object. Build up, reminding yourself all the while that it's just a dream. Keep yourself to dream goals that you can do in your environment, things that won't involve changing the scene or summoning people/things. Try to talk to your dream characters. Try to change the colors of things around you. Don't think of it in terms of the big thing that you accomplished, but the small thing that you accomplished with a high level of lucidity and rational thinking, and control.
As you build up your confidence, then branch out. Look for doors. Touch their handles, feel how real they are. Tell yourself, it's a dream. Anything can be on the other side, and open it expecting this, etc.
Changing colors, making things float, making the sun rise or set, make your body float, make your hand grow extra fingers, take specific things out of your pockets, write or draw something. Look down at your body and change your clothing. Get inanimate objects to talk to you. Eat things in your environment.
