Staying transformed...

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to begin to LD was to be able to transform into other things, like a dog or someone of the opposite sex. However, as soon as I become lucid, I hit a sort of mental block. I read around the site, and found some methods of transforming fluidly. I'm gonna try to use the mirror, or an injection to help.

However, how do you maintain that feeling of being something else? What I mean is, do I have to be focused on maintaining form the entire time? I want to be in character; I want to enjoy being a dog! I don't wanna be chasing squirrels around, but at every step, thinking "I am a dog. I am a dog."

I'm new here, so if I've written this in the wrong places, my apologies. If someone could provide a link or something, I'd appreciate it. I'm dying to find out! :D

I haven't tried transforming into anything yet, but my guess would be that you probably have to focus on "being a dog" when you're first starting out. Whatever you focus your attention on will become stronger. Then once you get used to it, you probably won't need to focus on it that much.

I have never transformed into anything but I remember that a member from this forum called TheDreamingWolfess has shapeshifted into a wolf many times. I can't wait to shapeshift. I want to transform into an eagle and then hunt... That be cool I think :D

My dream metamorphosis technique is to concentrate on my (dream) eyes, to communicate to them what I want to be. It works. Getting into the part is more difficult though, and up to me. Maybe don't select forms you can't feel any kindred connection to? Once or twice I have been able to ask for someone else's mind, to help with things. That "someone else" doesn't need to be human. But in doing so, I surrendered a lot of dream control.

I have a serious problem with transformation. I try for a few seconds and it starts to work for a moment then I just shift back to myself. I wasted my longest and most vivid lucid just trying to transform into things.:(

Ditto! Me too, right? I mean, I know there's a way. People on these forums talk about how they were a water balloon, or a banana. I just wanna stay that way (well, maybe not as a banana.) :D
