Can't seem to move well while lucid...

It seems lately when I become lucid I end up in situations where I have very little control. Here's a couple examples...

In one dream I was in my house and became lucid, then I walked outside and was caught in a storm, hard winds blew in all directions and I couldn't move... eventually a wind picked me up and I comfortably started soaring over houses. That part was neat but I wanted to go explore a house but the wind just kept taking me...

Last night I was outside a college and became lucid but I couldn't move very well. It felt like I was on the moon, all I could do was bound, which again was kind of neat but made it difficult to really explore. I've tried looking at my hands and studying them in hopes of more clarity but it doesn't seem to help and I often wake up soon after.

The important thing to know about Lucid Dreaming is that you can do anything; you just have to BELIEVE that you can do it. Many people have similar problems. Not being able to run, fly, shoot flames from their hands....all sorts of stuff. Tell yourself "look, it's only a dream...I can DO THIS!" and just do it!

That makes sense. I do tend to have more of a "I hope I can..." train of thought as opposed to "I know I can...", thanks for your input.

Anytime! And yes, unfortunately, that's how many of us are....even in an imaginary world! What the hell is up with that? It sort of reminds me of that episode of scrubs....

"Holy inferiority complex batman! How low is my self esteem that I'm the sidekick in my own fantasy?"

Point is, you just have to focus on how it's really just a dream, a figment of your imagination. You are in complete control. God if you wanna relate it to something! Good luck =D

It worked! Two nights ago I had the longest lucid dream yet (about 5min). I moved a lot more comfotably and although I couldn't fly, I did make a mountain explode and that's pretty damn sweet! Thanks again for your help.

Hey, anytime. I'm glad to hear that you were successful. What technique did you use? A regular ol' DILD?

Yep the DILD has always worked for me, I manage at least one or two LD's a week so far. Most have been very brief, but after the above mentioned LD, I think I'm on my way to prolonging the magic. I'm kind of curious about trying WILD, everyone here seems to be very succesful with it, but I've had such bad experiences with Sleep Paralysis in the past I have a bit of a phobia about getting to that state.

Awesome. Do you Reality Check frequently throughout the day? I'm curious. Also, yeah I'm a bit wary of Sleep Paralysis as well. I've heard that once you learn to embrace it, it's just a wonderful and even an enjoyable thing. Man, why must I overthink things? :roll:

I don't reality check as often as I used to. I should get into the habit of doing so first thing in the morning because false awakenings get me everytime. I have also heard Sleep Paralysis can be enjoyable but thinking back to my experiences, I can't see how that's possible! I know you're supposed to just relax and stay possitive, but I haven't quite figured out how to do that. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.

I'm the same way, hence why I'm a bit hesitant to try to get into Sleep Paralysis.

I reach sleep paralysis most nights, whether I want to or not. I used to be afraid of it before it happened to me, but now, its just plain annoying! I'm sure that if I wanted to try, I could make myself believe that it would be enjoyable, but I don't feel like it.

Just stay calm during it. Thats all you have to do. If something happens, like something scary, just remember they are just hallucinations that come with getting closer to a dream.
