      Lucid Dreaming in another Dream?

Ok so I dreamt I was at my house and went to sleep and then I woke up within the dream, tried to turn on the light, but it didn't so I did a nose RC and realized I was dreaming (so a false awakening within another dream). At this point I was yelling and all kinds of stuff. Rubbing my hands did seem to increase color, But I was still stuck... couldn't really do anything else. Then it turned nightmarish as there was another figure on the other side of the door. I woke up and realized another false awakening (within the same dream). Still couldn't really do anything, and this turned nightmarish too but I wasn't scared so I just let it happen.

Is this because I'm not really lucid, like it doesn't work the same way if you realize you are dreaming within another dream? Because I would technically have to realize the whole thing was a dream from the start or something?

no, you were definitely lucid. I've had a number of dreams where really all I could do was rub my hands together. It really sucked because I don't get lucid often so I really wish I could accomplish something in it, but sometimes it just doesn't happen that way. Probably you and I were too exited finding out we were dreaming, and weren't super focused. But if you knew you were dreaming, and especially if you could rub your hands together to control the dream, you were very lucid.

Well, Noodles, It's good you didn't fear the figure during the second awakening. I have to admit I've never heard of a double awakening in one dream before. since you realized you were in a dream you were, in fact, lucid. Having a lucid dream doesn't necessarily mean you can control it, just that you're aware you're in a dream.

I have a theory though... Read back in Your text. Notice your wording?

"But I was still STUCK... COULDN'T really do anything else. Then it turned nightmarish as there was another figure on the other side of the door. I woke up and realized another false awakening (within the same dream). Still COULDN'T really do anything, and this turned nightmarish too but I wasn't scared so I just let it happen."

Maybe I'm reading too far into things, but you didn't seem all that confident back there. Dream or not, it's still YOUR mind. Be positive, have more confidence, and don't just THINK the techniques will work, KNOW they will. You may have better luck. And even so, you can try other techniques. There are plenty of others around.

Keep in mind though that you still need to concentrate when you're trying to work your mojo. It takes mental discipline to manipulate your dreams (unless you're just plain awesome )

If you've just started out training to have lucid dreams, don't expect to work magic your first few times having a LD. Instead, try something ordinary... If a figure is blocking the door, climb out of the window, concentrate on a new landscape. You may just find that landscape on the other side of the window. Keep in mind that you need to keep calm, or risk waking yourself though.

      Hope that helps!

It's hard to explain but since I was actually dreaming I was dreaming isn't it possible that I become aware I'm dreaming but only to that extent, not realizing I'm actually dreaming within a dream? And since I've read so much about lucid dreaming and stuff that when that happened, my dream self automatically started trying all kinds of things? I hope I'm wrong but idk its so wierd.

don't worry, If you don't have control that's what you normally do. The mind thinks lucid dreams and thinks all about what you want to do in them. Once I had no control and still completed two goals while lucid. I've only really had "full control" in 2 dreams and only for fleeting moments. Just keep trying and know you'll get it right next time.

Well, whether it was a dream, or a dream in a dream in a dream, or a dream squared multiplied by the sum of pi and infinity, if you knew it was a dream, then you were lucid.

      It's a dream, anything is possible. =)

and also, don't think of false awakenings as a dream in a dream, think of it as the dream scene just turning into your room, not you waking up in a dream.

I understand the part about lucid dreaming within a lucid dream, i did that a few days ago, i was lucid dreaming that i was in my bed, and i went to sleep and started another lucid dream, although i forgot what it was about, its not impossible to do and some people have done it before. And it is possible that you became aware that you're dreaming to that extent.

Hmm... I wonder if anyone has ever tried to WILD in a dream?
