any Pointers from LD'ers out there, im getting greatly discouraged.

Hey guys, Well for a little bit now I've been trying to become Lucid, or atleast look for dream signs in my dreams. My dream recall has gotten somewhat good, but no matter how hard I try, I cant make anything happen in my dreams. By that I mean I can't make myself look for dream signs or do reality checks or anything in my dreams to become lucid, it's just me there, pretty much spectating, and I find this a little annoying as I cannot figure out how to get past this. Any help?

Have you tried WILD's?

Wilds help, but for most people, the first few LDs are an accident. After that it's just you in a dream reacting to normal habit. Some people train themselves to do a RC like, every hour.

While this is good in practice, it's not necessary. Try a mantra. It increases the odds of success.

after a while, you'll learn how to induce LDs whenever you want. It just takes practice and determination. Keep at it, man!

I just posted my theory about attaining lucidity etc. Go to bed with a lot of blankets and make sure you're warm. Try waking yourself up in the morning around 7ish, then fall back to sleep in the same position you awoke, making sure your blankets are still the same as your body heat. This way it will be easier to realize your asleep since you were just recently awake. That might help. Good luck!!

As you go on you will become better at recognising dream signs: for me it was like this

I had my first LD in 2 weeks, from then I had about 1 a month then later on about 1 a fortnight and now about 1 or 2 a fortnight without WILDs just DILD, this was across half a year. But as the others said you can try a WILD or a mantra if WILDs don't work. You can try RCing a lot but you actually arn't very likely to become lucid from one though, I have been doing them for half a year and had maybe 20 LD's: No Reality Checks

Try MILD or WILD. Having a technique can make you feel like you have some kind of an idea what your doing. Also try to just think about the dream state. Do it when you wake up. What does it feel like when you are dreaming? Becoming familiar with the way that dreams feel is the fastest way to realizing when your dreaming. I may be wrong but I think that the logic centers in your brain shut off when you dream, so it would be much easier to recognize the feeling than the signs.

Another thing that can help is meditating, or using some kind of a relaxtion technique before you go to bed. This is one I used to use that works wonders. http://madphilosopher.ca/2006/12/61-point-relaxation/

Don't get frustrated. Most do it by accident first and then find this site. The more frustrated you get the harder it will be. It will happen, and when it does it's amazing.

For me RCs weren't needed at first. It was just realizing what was going on couldn't be real and then making things float, or flying. When I joined this board to learn more I didn't know what RCs were, but now I have increased my LDs using the plug your nose and breath technique. In fact, just did it today during a nap. :)

What also helped me (when I'm really into LDing) was doing the tasks on this board. When I got into doing them I was able to do them all each month. Then I forgot one month and slowly lost interest in LDing. For me it's stages. Which stinks since the more you do it, the better you get.

I started getting into OBE's since I was 17 (23 now)... I could never find Real information on HOW to do it, so it was really difficult so I didn't try it that hard, I tried but without technique.. it wasn't till I was 20 that I got my hands on a good book, and I got my first OBE... later on I got into LD, and that took a few months to attain as well... This is NOT to discourage you, just to make you see that for some people it comes very easy but for some it just takes time and dedication...

You were lucky to come accross dreamviews... It has all the information you need to get you started and get answers to any of your questions... and give you a variety of techniques

About your little 'problem' don't get frustrated about it... let me say it again Don't get frustrated! just keep trying... BUT!!!, and this is a big but!, Don't Force it!! just let it happen... When you force things a little too much, you sort of push them away a bit... I now understand that That was probably why It took me SO looong to achieve it... I was forcing it... just relax, think about it... do RC's, but don't get obsesed... just let it happen... allow it to happen.... you'll have better results like that... trust me!...

Besides recall what else are you trying to do to catch these DILDs?
Recall isn't the only part of the equation. In fact, you can DILD without keeping a steady DJ (although obviously for max LDs you want to put in that extra bit of effort). If you're trying to get yourself to reality check, what are you doing during the day to foster this?

Try doing an RC every five minutes for an hour before you go to bed. Really do them.

I am going to try this.

I have noticed a lot of people have been writing about the same issue, including myself. My recall has improved greatly, as a matter of fact last night was the first night I haven't recalled a dream in over a month, yet I find myself in the same predicament. I've had dreams about LD's, and have noticed that things were unusual in dreams, but I have been unable to get to the next step, regardless of RC's and DJ. :(:(
I am trying to keep positive without being obsessive. I know it will happen, I'm just wanting it

Dannyboy, take a break for a few days. Sometimes letting go for a bit will trigger a breakthrough.

I've been trying to Lucid Dream since January. Since then, I've only had a few odd dream snippits, but nothing to count as Lucid Dreaming.

Except for now. About a week ago I went back and read some posts on a forum that I'd made when first discovering it. I repeat a simple lucid dreaming mantra, and somehow, I've changed my attitude about it.

And sure enough, all of my dreams since them have had some aspect of lucid dreaming in them. The trick now is to hone in on reality checking so I take it the next lucid step.

My point - don't give up. You'll find a method, even if you aren't looking. You most definitely will not take as long as I have, so take some comfort in that :)

Also for certain people it may take longer. I noticed you joined DV like a month ago. To have your first lucid dream it may take 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, ect. Keep trying and don't get discouraged!

I have been Lucid Dreaming for a couple years now and none of mine occur durring any time i'm trying, they usually occur naturally, stress seems to block me completely and exhaustion as well. Try going to bed as soon as you feel tired and don't carry any of your stres into your sleep, that may help. Also just as speedbasssux stated earlier, relax and give yourself breaks, training is well and good but you need the recovery time also, not too much so that you lose track. It will most likely occur during one of your relaxed nights. but don't give up

My recall has been quite good, and I have even gone to bed without trying to lucid, yet I have what many call plateaued and can't progress...
Even without trying I still only recall without closing the gap...many dreams I have questioned the reality of the situation without realizing that, Damn I'm dreaming!! ARGHHHHHHHH I'm soooo frustrated. I'm happy for everyone who achieves this, yet I'm so jealous. :bowdown::bowdown:
