      Is third person bad?

Hey guys! I'm pretty new here but i have been controlling my dreams for a while now. The lucid though... I'm not too good at. Anyway... I was remembering all my dreams and i realized that all of them were in third person. It's sort of like I'm floating over myself or am a god in my own mini-world . >.> Sounds weird. Lol.
I was wondering, is this bad? Any advice or comments welcome!

Urg... is this the right place to post this?

Hi, and Welcome to DreamViews, I really don't think it's a bad thing, it may mean you're not fully in control of the dream, i know this is how some of my Lucids are and these i usually end up losing control of halfway threw the dream... Then again it may be just how you choose to perceive your dream body.

there's a thread already on here about this subject
you may find some answers in it.
      Good Luck!

      "MementoMori, the lucid machine"

"There's nothing better than knowing what it's like to fly like superman. Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

If you are lucid and realizing that it is a dream you are experiencing, maybe you should try to approach your own body. Change the view of what you are looking at. Are you able to look away from your own third person view so that your body is completely out of the view.

I haven't had much experience with 3rd person view in dreams, so I'm not really sure what the an exact approach should be. Is it like you are watching yourself in a movie, or is it like you are controlling what the person you are watching is doing?

3rd person is boring as far as I am concerned. You may as well just be playing a video game.
However elements of my dreams are 3rd person sometimes.

Excuse my newb-ness, but what exactly do you mean by "third person"?
cold hearted orb that rules the night,

red is grey and yellow white,
but we decide which is right,
      and which is an illusion....

Third person is like viewing yourself but from an external angle, like from above your own body or from the perspective of someone else.

Gotcha. That's kind of what I thought but because I'm new to the whole dream-perspective thing I wanted to make sure. Thanks

      mario explanation ftw

Often times my normal dreams seem to be in third person, but they switch between the two. When lucid dreaming I would much prefer a 1st person view as you are right about the video game feeling haha. 1st person offers a more realistic experience.

It is not necessarily a bad thing. It's all about preference.

During my own Lucid Dreams, my vision switches from both depending on the situation. For example, when my Lucid Dream turns into a game like interface (Health Bar, Mini map) my vision goes into third person. I kinda like it that way. Sometimes I suddenly switch from first to third when I am doing some complicated movements, like fighting or something.

I can't really think of any ways to switch it purposely. hmm perhaps just demand it? Like shout 'First Person NOW!' aha

@mrdeano - yeah you're right, i find that my mind changes from first to third person depending on the focus in my dream. on the other hand, health bars and mini maps are not my thing. it seems a little unnatural dont you think?

I find I frequently go back and forth from 1st to 3rd in my dreams. My one LD was both also. Started in 1st, then drifted to 3rd right before ending

I've also been 1st/3rd with other characters in my dream, lol

      So no, nothing bad

Hmmmm ... I find 3rd person view is not that bad, it makes you take a better look of your surrounding. If your lucid, that is.

I've had many dreams like that when I was a kid and don't have any now. 3RD person is'nt bad because even in LDs you can zoom out, which doesn't meam that your loosing control or lucidity.
