Whenever I LD, it's always dark. ALWAYS. I can't seem to get the lights indoors, or the sun outside to come on! I know light swtiches dont work, but even 'expecting' the room/outdoors to become brighter, all my LDs are dark. Any suggestions?

Hmm, that really sounds a bit odd. Have you ever tried to keep the bedside lamp on? Could be that you're still perceiving the darkness in your bedroom and therefore have difficulties to change it in your dream world.
Another idea might be to ask a dream character if he would be willing to help with the light problem. Light switches never work in my dreams either but usually it gets lighter by itself if I just wait long enough. Hope this helps, good luck!
I will try leaving a light on near my bed tonight- and asking for help. Hopefully my wife won't mind- though she is well aware of my lucid dreaming obsessions :)
This happens with me ALL the time. I just slide my finger up/down across the sky or a light switch to get the lights to go on. I usually have to do this over and over again, because the lighting only gets slightly brighter each time. =P
Its a mind trick, much like the rest of controlling (or lack there of) lucid dreams.
Before you go to sleep sit in bed and close your eyes, relax your mind and imagine yourself in a dream, any dream you like. You are lucid in this dream and it is dark like it always is.
In your pretend dream say in your mind "light" and watch the light come into the dream, then say "dark" and watch the light fade, after you have practiced this for a while try doing the same thing with out voice commands.
The next time you have a lucid dream you will have a much greater ability to control your environment. If you practice this a lot before sleep, and see all your dreams in the day light, you will find that the majority of your lucid dreams will be bright.
Some psychologists may tell you that because lucid dreaming is a new skill to you that the darkness represents the unknown and your newness to the environment. Much like a baby that has yet learned to see.
Maybe this is correct, maybe its not, either way you do have the ability to control it, practice practice practice.
