Talking Dream control for gamers (Just a silly idea)

I've seen a lot of posts by people recently about their lack of ability to fully control their dreams. For the newbies out there, this is very very common. Lucid dreams are created entirely by your mind, and thus, every aspect of them can be controlled. For some this comes much more easily than others.

For those people that seem to have difficulty controlling things that they really want to control, but can do a few simple things, try seeing your lucid dream as an RPG!

You have to use a certain amount of Dream Mana (or whatever the stuff is you have to get more of in these games nowadays) and when you reach a certain level, you will be able to do a given ability. Say you wanted to fly, but you are having trouble-- which is a typical scenario.

You might decide before you go lucid dream that you are on a quest, and you have to develop your abilities over time. So say, before you can fly, you have to be able to jump a certain height, and you do this by practicing. You explain to yourself that by practicing jumping, your legs develop muscle enough to be able to sustain a super-jump which will enable you to fly, because in order to defy dream-gravity, you have to take off at a certain speed. Something like that.

It's kind of a silly idea, but it's based on the fact that for people with difficulty controlling dreams, it's often because having "powers" still goes against everything they know to be "true" about "reality."

So this method (which is not new, just a new way of doing it) uses explanations to make what is happening make more sense, thus making it more believable to you on a subconscious level, and thus giving you the ability to do it over time. Just a thought. What do you think?

I liked the concept. And your super jump idea actually sounds very reasonable for the mind to practice by.

To bad I haven't had a lucid dream in a looooooooooooong time..

It's a useful concept for anything really, if you can logically explain how something illogical works in your dreams it will work. If I have trouble flying, I'll drink a Red Bull, cause "Red Bull gives you wings". If I can't get any weapons I'll summon a Playstation controller and enter RL cheat codes for stupid shit like guns and infinite ammo, infinite health, ect.
