First LDs, need some advice

Hey everyone :)

I started reading up on LDing yesterday and decided to give it a go during the night. I woke up after 6 hours and then went back to sleep again.

I had 3 LDs and the first two of them made me feel very, very uneasy for some reason.

In my first dream I realized after I did my normal "is this a dream?" question just randomly. During my day awake I questioned myself this every hour so I guess that helped me out. When I realized I got pretty excited of course and I started to float. I tried spinning around to get down to the ground again which I managed to. After that I grew very restless for some reason and tried to spin around to change my scenary (I remember I decided to practice this because this seems rather important)

I had my first false-awakening right after and even though nothing happened (every time I wake up I try to move my lamp to see if I'm really awake or not)
I got really frightened for some reason and decided to stand up and look out of the window quickly, this made me wake up instantly.

When I tried spinning around I got this massive headache, is this normal? It was actually really painful, like if someone smashed something against your head. When I woke up I had a ringing in my ear as well but I've heard that's normal.

I had a third LD after going back to sleep again where I tried to "summon" a girl I knew which worked after turning around and pretending she was coming around the corner. I talked to her for a bit and then I woke up, I had no chance to even spin around or rub my hands together.. Is this something usual when you start out as well?

In the end what bugs me is that when I realize that I'm LDing I try to calm down but I get this really eerie feeling that something will go wrong and I force myself to wake up. I used to LD a lot back when I was a kid not knowing what it really was, but it's been gradually going away since then.

TLDR; Why am I afraid of LDing, especially during a false-awakening (I saw a box floating in the air and I got scared, what the..?)

And if I just wake up suddenly how can I even try to stay in my dream?

I also had a dream I think where I couldn't wake up, it was like a dream of my dream or something like that. Basically I tried to LD when I was in my false-awakening state (I'm not sure which of the dreams this was) I remember I couldn't move and I paniced. Is it possible that I was actually awake at this time WILDing (because I tried to after my third LD)? I'm very confused about this as well.

The headache you got wasn't real sometimes in a dream your mind does wierd things. Since your in the dream your subconscious mind can make fake pain (not to severe though). It probably won't happen again.

Hopefully not :) I figured it might be because I'm not that used to it that much yet but we'll see in the future.

I backed out of one of mine because I was thinking creepy thoughts, like if I turned around something outta a horror movie would be there. Even though I've only had a few (and they were amazing) there was quite an eery vibe to them like you've said.

I guess with further experience you'll get used to things and feel more comfortable with the surroundings in your dreams.

well i can separate my dreams into 3 diffferent types of control

3rd person
3rd person lucid
lucid

3rd person is where im just dreaming and sort of "Watching" myself live the dream as if it was happening

3rd person lucid..is when my 3rd person being...the person im "watching"...becomes aware of the dream and trys to become lucid but cant...and im watching my dream self do this....but its still part of the 3rd person aspect where im not in controll at all...im just dreaming about having a lucid dream..

and lucid is where im in controll...cant quite do anything yet...got to think more like...oh i want her to come from around the corner....not....hey come on out of the oven....

I've had lucid dreams where it feels they'll turn into nightmares. Usually I try and leave for someplace else: if I'm getting that feeling in my home, I'll go to the mall or someplace. I also try my best to focus on something else, though any regular LDer probably knows that isn't always easy. Your strategy of doing a reality check every time you awaken is a good one-once you build up the habit, you'll recover many false awakenings into LDs-trust me, there is nothing more satisfying! I find its easier to stay in a dream if I'm always doing something, also. Where you actively engaged in a lively conversation, or just milling around? Bradysdreaming is right, by the way. You probably won't get a "headache" again.
