Why do my LD's keep blurring?!

Ok, people..! You have problably seen this kind of thread a thousand times before, but please! I need some help!

I've been LD'ing for some months now, and I have had some LD's, but lately, I've been bumping into a problem! Everytime I understand that "Hey, this is a dream!", I start rubbing my hands and looking around. But secounds after, the LD kinda just ends..! Everything starts to blur, then everything just become dark..! And so I forget that I'm just dreaming, and the dream goes on.

The problem with this is that it keeps happening! I've had good LDs before, but lately, they just end after secounds! This keeps happening as I said, last night was the third time!

Excuse the text block, but please! It's driving me mad!

Try taking a moment to become anchored inside the lucid dream. I have always found rubbing hands together to be extremely ineffective and have therefore not used it for years. Rubbing hands creates movement and friction, you actually want to create a pause, or stillness. What works for me is to stop whatever I am doing...and examine my hands very close up, taking in all the detail, all the wrinkles, scratches, etc. And I use the verbal command, "stabilize lucidity". I do this for a few seconds until I feel truly anchored...only then do I actually look up and explore the dreamscape. When I do this, everything becomes perfectly clear, dream control becomes absolute, and I am less likely to fade out of the dream. Then I go about enjoying my dream. If a few minutes later it starts to become fuzzy or begin to fade, I again stop what I am doing. Hold my hands up close to my eyes, examine them...and repeat the same verbal command. Sometimes a few times if necessary, saying it very firmly. This same format has worked for me for years now, you might want to try it. Good luck.

Try putting your hands in front of your face, then rubbing them together, so you are seeing your hands, and the dream scenery/character at the same time.

You want to see the hands rubbing within the context of the dream scene, and you don't even have to rub them quickly, just slowly and deliberately.

Don't just rub your hands while your eyes are on something else.

I don't know this forum's definition of a "dead thread," so my apologies if this is late. I once read (just posted this elsewhere, actually) that splashing your hands in cold water and calling out "stabilize my lucid dream now!" will keep you in there once it starts to fade. However, I only really find this useful if I've already been lucid for a while. Usually, I do what Aquanina does when I go lucid: I take a moment to collect myself, study my hands, and arms (if I have anything written there), and start moving around when I feel I'm ready. Don't start doing anything until you are "all there" or at least stable enough that you'll "fill in" as you do stuff.

There's always the classic: shouting "clarity now!" Hehe. Otherwise it's similar to Nina's.

Another thing you can do is try focusing on an object close to you for a minute. Touching a dream object really seems to help, too.

You are experiencing what I call Introversion.

Everything requires your attention to exist in dreams. That means you have to be somewhat aware of your surrounding. The moment you realize you are lucid, your awareness implodes into your head with thoughts about being lucid and what that implies, not leaving enough attention to sustain your surroundings.

Any sort of brisk movement will help counteract that. Running, jumping, flying. Don't just stand there dazed, take action. Spinning falls into that category, but it can be disorienting, preventing you from focusing on your surrounding, and having the same fogging effect.

I used to spin and yeah it is helpful but I tripped and lost my dream a few times so I don't do that anymore lol. now I just focus on my surroundings and do similar to what nina does focusing on one thing inside the whole and a small chant to regain control and focus.

Yeah, I have never had any success spinning. Maybe it works for some people, but I've never had any luck, haha. Nina's technique seems to be pretty standard. I would advise just doing whatever she says in general.

I used to have this problem. I am going to give you some advice, probably the most valuable advice i could ever give. When you rub your hands together, or touch an object, DON NOT STOP THERE. Keep touching stuff, anything you can find, feel it, rub it, squeeze it. The more you do this the more you immerse yourself in the dream. Last night in my LD i was going down a list of my contacts in my cell phone to calls omeone but the names were so blurry i couldnt read them. I immediately went to my computer chair and started rubbing the leather, at first i couldnt feel anything but after the fourth rub i could sense leather. this is true for everything you touch, keep touching it until it feels like it does in real life. Your bed sheets, your bed spread, rub them, feel them. All of these things will make the dream more clear and stablilized.

I see! Thank you! I will try that the next time I get lucid! Thanks!

Sorry for the late post, but I didn't load the forum with another of my questions! xD

When I become lucid, I often move very slowly. What is this? Could anybody help me?

Your probably not grounded into the dream well enough yet. Spend extra time stabilizing, and doing what i said earlier. Dont rush through it just because you want to hurry and do something fun before you wakeup, because once you DO stabilize, you wont have to worry about that.
