my first time i went to the clouds what a high that was
I press V.
It just reminded me of the time where gmod9 where popular, newbies came, and asked how to fly, always. No gimmick, i have even seen such behavior in Gmod10.
In my first major flying dream that I can recall, I was about 12 years old. I told myself NOT to go above the trees, but a gust of wind came and blew me above them. I grabbed onto a thin branch but it broke and I flew out of control. I "passed out" then found myself in a grayish colored space that I took for a cloud. Before me was a hooded man whose face I couldn't make out. He said:
"Fly, fly my child. Fly into the heavens once. Not one time more, not one time less, but fly. [insert a group of numbers I've forgotten]. Learn to control your inner dreams, for one day you may be able to control your outter dreams. Awake."
When I woke, I was terrified of the numbers (on my calender it came out to be either Christmas Eve or the day before that- can't recall now). I thought I was going to die on that day :D
For probably a decade at least, I stayed below the tree tops because of that dream and every now and then the old fear re-surfaces.
In the past, to fly, I treated the air as though it was water and I was swimming up from the bottom of a pool. With my arms above me I'd "cut through" or "grab" the air currents, then kick off with my feet. Breaking through gravity was always the hardest part. And I'd fly as if swimming too, not the breast stroke or doggy paddle or anything lol, but more like a leisurely side stroke.
I've always felt at home while flying, though always a bit in fear of it too.
Now-a-days, my mode of flying has changed for some reason. Now, it's more like a form of sustained levitation. I think "up" and I'm off the ground. Sometimes I use hand signals to help.
Normally, I still tend to stay slightly above the tree line (it's a mode of transportation and I like to see landmarks), but I've flown to space before.
I usually become lucid if I get much higher than the trees, which for me means I'll wake up soon. I don't know how to hold on to my lucidity, so I keep myself within my limits.
I can really do both, but unless I get some good ground clearance I generally die by going splat against against a wall... I said I can fly, not that I'm good at it ^_^ - so I prefer to be higher. In my last dream I made it above cloud level though :D. If I can get over the thought that I'll run out of air at higher altitudes I might hit super-luminal speeds and go orbital.
about 6 foot. i normally find a llittle ledge and then just lean forward, keeping my body stiff, then whoosh!
I fly all over the place. Sometimes I just float above the ground, sometimes I do big jumps like the hulk, sometimes I can zoom around the world like Puck, and sometimes I can fly though space to other galaxies and beyond. I've even taught other dream characters to fly three or four times.
I don't know. Usually I can't see the ground O_o
I just noticed though, everytime I fly really well, I go through a wall or something first......Huh...
I usually fly quite close to the ground, I haven't tried to fly higher, I am thrying to summon a gryphon to take me in the clouds, it is really important to me, so I am trying to keep this "high flying" as a reward for my effort.
Superman style! Medium height. (A bit above houses/trees. etc)
I like actually flying in an air plane or ultra light type thing. But that's just me.
I fly with jets coming out of my feet
I'd say I fly probably closer to the ground than not, though sometimes I can float a good ways up into the sky.
i used to fly really close to the ground because im scared of heights irl and i let it control me i go into space whenever i want to now
-first person to orbit saturn-
used to just breath in deep and go up. breath out, go down.
it sucks cause in real life im afraid of heights so when i dream of flying if i start to fly to high ill start to freak out.
I fly very "Peter-Pan" like (without the green tights)
I can move quite freely, but never too high like in outer space or anything.
If I WANT to fly, I just jump off a high spot or out a window. Sometimes I'll be running really fast and take-off without even realising it.
I stay within Earth's atmosphere, but I'm usually either ascending or descending uncontrollably.
Like louie, it's hard to tell what is close and what is high, it's all relative... But I usually start flying by jumping out of a second or 3rd floor window, so that's how high I usually am. However, when I want to fly a great distance (across countries), I usually shot up very high in the air (think Google Earth) until I can spot the place I want to go to, and then I aim straight for it.
I usually can fly to any height, though I do have one particular problem. Whenever I 'decide' how high I am going to go, I lose my ability to fly any higher. For instance, If I am trying to fly to the top of a building, I start to lose momentum/control as I reach the top and often times have to grab on and haul myself up to avoid falling back down.
I am also petrified of heights irl, but I don't have a problem with it in dreams. One way I'd suggest getting over it is flying up as high as you can and then just let yourself fall. The sensation of free falling is amazing. Then, you can either catch yourself and start flying again before you hit the ground or for real effectiveness, allow yourself to hit the ground so that you can see that there is no pain or any other consequences of falling in dreams. I got one of the greatest feelings from doing one of the lucid tasks this way. The task was to swing on a 'web' spiderman style. I flew up to maybe 500 feet and then just 'turned off' the flying. I fell maybe 200-300 feet and shot out a web. The fall plus the swing were extremely exhilarating.
My method of flying is to:
- Tell myself that I am going to fly
- I jump in the air for the first time
- I flap my arms like a chicken would
- (Usually the first attempt is unsuccessful) but then I jump again (but this time it is a little higher)
- I flap my arms like wings for a second time
- (Usually after three jumps I am in the air) I straighten my body out so that my face is directly towards the sky and that makes me go up
- Just tilting my body makes me go in a certain direction
- If I were to curl my body I do a flip
- To go faster, I just say "I am going to go faster now"
Hope I help you out.
Wow! The poll results are so close!
I'm usually within the boundaries of a large room or the skeletal superstructure of some huge building when I fly, and I go to the top corners and swoop around.
Once in a while I have a 'teacher' in my dreams, who instructs me in different techniques. The last time this happened, there were two of these instructors, and they were helping me make 'jumps' to the mountains on the horizon and back again.
Very seldom, I also experience the 'swimming' flight, where I can flap my arms and swoop around in a small space. It's good stuff!
