      How do you fly?

When you dream about flying, how far are you from the ground? Apparently most people fly very close to the ground. I haven't had many flying dreams, but in one of them I was close to the ground and in another I was able to go higher and could fully control my flight path.

when I first started out flying, I could only go so high. At the same time I really wasn't taking control of my dreams.

The last few times I've flow have been as high as a sky scraper or up to the clouds.

Last night I told my self I would fly to the moon for practice, I was able to attain lucidity and I looked up to see the moon. I was about to jump and start flying towards it but I decided It would have been fucking cold getting there. I told myself I needed a jacket and I went to find one and totally forgot about the moon...*sigh*

hmm.. that's kinda strange, if you were lucid than it wouldn't matter whether it's cold right? or am I misunderstanding things ?

anyways, sounds fun, too bad you forgot about the moon

however, I recently had my first "semi" lucid dream, and tried to fly, but I was very close to the ground.

I'm terrible at flying, I can't even 'fly'... I swim through the air instead of flying .

There is no easy way to fly, I usually drink redbull to trigger flying mode in me. You could try jumping and hover around first to see the effect. After a while go ahead and proceed to fly around.

I'm no higher than power lines when I'm flying. I used to fly Superman style a lot, and then I switched to an upright position. If anything it's like a combination between Magnito and Handcock. I'm also moving this to the dream control section.

In my last lucid dream I flew lower than usual, and it was easier to keep the dream stable.

Normally I don't fly particularly high, but also not super low... Maybe to the top of a tall tree.

Normally, once I get off the ground, I can't actually get back down, and it is as if the gravity has been totally shut off. :3

You know, it really depends for me. It can be close to the ground, and far from the ground. It used to only be close to the ground...but I just don't think about it anymore. So, either way, really, so I won't vote .

Oh, and those of you that are terrified to leave the ground too much, I think that this fear diminishes, at least a little, after you get used to LD's, and flying in them. Like with me, you may just fly, and notice you are quite a ways off the ground, and be ok with it. It WOULD be terrifying in real life, but often LD's are surreal, so it doesn't compare at all.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

Yeah, for some reason I've never been afraid of heights in dreams, even though when I'm awake I swear I can hardly make it to the 3rd step of a ladder without freaking out.

I usually just fly to get from one place to another so I'm usually above the treeline, but not too high, maybe 30 feet. Of course occasionally I'll fly to the moon or something

I fly however i see fit in the dream really, flying is one of my proffesional feats in my LD's i'm novice at most other abilities but put me in a Lucid and 95% of the time i'll take to the sky for sure.

      "MementoMori, the lucid machine"

"There's nothing better than knowing what it's like to fly like superman. Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

I rarely fly in dreams but most of the time its just leviating above the ground a few inchs or flying around superman style with my arms in front of me horizontally just above streetlamp height. I only ever really fly in dreams to prove to dc's that its just a dream and normally they just stand there paralysed mouth gaped open as i leviate of the ground. one thing i have noticed tho i cannot for example fly superman style horizontally in confined spaces like narrow tubes and even in corridors in buildings i can only sort of hover down them anyone else experienced this?

I tried a new method of flying this morning, having been frequently frustrated by "the air" slowing me down. -if anyone wants to try it...
I imagined loads of energy building up in my body (particularly torso and arms), after a few seconds, I released it so the energy "pushed" me forwards from behind- really fast. I found it easier because I was leaving the momentum of flight up to another force. With me in control of how much force was released, I could go faster than I ever did before!

Actually, just recently I noticed that if I fly too high for too long then the dream gets destabilized. Maybe at some point I'll figure out how to do it while keeping the dream stable, but for now I think I'll just stick to low flying.

I'm normally just above the treetops or rooftops. I get disoriented when I go too far up.

Ever since the first time I've flown in an LD, I'm always around 2-3 stories high off the ground.

Sometimes I fly low to the ground, but only if there's a good reason for it. Most of the time when I take off, I really take off! Into space, even

it's a good way to change the dream, IMO...just fly into space, then direct myself to earth or another planet and I can easily go anywhere I want to.

I guess I'm kind of in the middle. Not too far from the ground yet, not too close. One time I levitated off the ground a couple of feet and could move in any direction which was pretty neat. Another time I was aiming towards the moon and ended up launching myself into the universe. I'm usually just around 2 or 3 stories though.

I'm still wanting to fly over a city at night.
