      Dream Lair

Today I thought of a really cool idea: An evil lair/Secretbase/Fortress/Hang out created in your dreams. Complete with minions and everything. I know one could just teleport to one and have your subconsious just cook one up, but I want to build one from the ground up.

      I have a few questions:
      1. Will it stay there? As in, when I go back to it the next night, it will still be standing, and as I left it.

      2. What would be the best way to convince DCs to work for you

      3. How should I go about constructing it?

And now.. for a Stephen Strutmeyer Film...

1: Its a lair, it won't be the same way as you left it, you have to check often so it won't be destroyed or messed up!

2: Go through your dreams exploring and involving in plots, then recruiting DCs as you see fit, I find that to be more fun.

3: Who knows, magic, get your new DC to help you build it, get someone to do it for you by paying them, so many options! Oh, stealing one works too!

I definitely want one as well.

I was thinking about creating an underground or hidden one in my school in a dream as it's one of my dream signs.

Maybe I could get to it through my locker

Plus during real life I'd end up smiling to my self thinking "these fools don't realise we're so close to my base". Though people may think I'm going mad

these fools don't realise we're so close to my base

Having a base sounds like a lot of fun. I'd probably need a solid picture of it in my mind before I tried to go there, so I'd most likely model it on an actual famous building or castle- something I can look at while awake to get to know it better.

As for minions, maybe summoning them (a la world of warcraft), or I like Walms' idea too.

I've always wanted to construct a world IRL then bring it to life in a dream. I'd probably design it in a 3D modeler or draw it out, and plan out everything in detail. It would be a creative endeavour.

      1. When you make it once, if you want it to stay there it might, but if it doesn't you could create it real easy after making it previously.

      2. DC's tend to go along with whatever I want, whether I said it or not, they just go with what I'm thinking about.

      3. Magic it up, Blink and appear. Or telekinesis. Or make DC's build it

      2. What would be the best way to convince DCs to work for you

      3. How should I go about constructing it?
1:Will it stay the same way? Likely no, unless you use all your willpower to wish it to stay the same. It undoubtedly will have differences - one night you'll probably discover a wood-burning furnace in one corner that wasn't there before. I should hope that the only differences are new additions you never noticed there before, and that old things don't disappear.

2:I like Walms' idea too, do it Mega Man Battle Network 5 style: talk with people, do a mission or two with them, some kind of quest to help them out, so they'll be indebted to you, and will work for you as thanks for helping them with whatever it is they needed. However, don't expect them to just be looking for a bucket of water to water their tomato patch out back - they're pledging their life to you, and will likely have great and daunting quests for you to help them complete before they'll be willing to become your minion.

3:Me being a perpetual fan of the fantasy-style thieves of various games and stories, I would recommend becoming a thief of sorts. After talking to a couple DC's, you might discover that some materials are better for building a lair with (maybe they repel certain types of magic that might destroy or reveal the lair?) and are also harder to come by, and you'll need to go on quests to build up your lair. Maybe you need to break into a castle's storeroom to get valuable boards to piece together to make a protective door, the wood of which being rare and only available from the castle? Or maybe you could steal some magical curtains from castle windows that will protect your lair from the inside, as well as make it look really cool? And maybe you'll want to pack some elaborately-designed candles while you're at it? Ideas are endless!

In case you can't tell, I'd love to do this too!! Once I get a few lucid goals out of the way, I might be able to start constructing the equivalent to my personal mod to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, called "The Chorrol Secret", which was an underground lair I built into the city Chorrol as a secret base for myself. No minions inside, though I could have easily added them.

Had a discussion before with my brother about what type of lair he'd want if he were a wizard.

I settled for (and it'll probably be my dream lair) a tower built into a mountain, filled with minions made of stone. I'd be an elemental, of course.

      I like neutrality.

Yeah, just simple room with a chair, a table with a notebook or laptop on it and two doors. One to enter from when entering a dream state, and then when lucid, enter the other door to the dream world itself.

It will be hard to make whatever you want. And have it be the same? Forget about it. Nothing is permanent. What I did is take a recurring place that I dream about and remodel it. I have a lair (well, it's a tepee) on a grassy beach of a mountain lake. It started as a tepee but now it is a yurt. There is a path that goes around the lake along the sides of tall snowcapped mountains. I put a magic mirror under a tree near my yurt and I use that to teleport or summon people and /or things. But I took a recurring dream place and claimed it as my lair.

To get DCs to follow orders and work for you? You ransom them. You steal their soul by putting a spell on them so that they have to do what you say. But I don't mess with this, it is black magic!!! You can give them a potion that makes them believe that they are dead and are zombies. Whatever. I never tried this kind of thing. But if it works, get them to find treasure for you, to tell you where some real treasure is in waking life for you to find then get in touch with me!

I think it's a really cool idea. Here's some suggestions from me:
      - I think if you build it in a place that exists in real life, you decrease the chance that your lair changes over time. (Because random things happen when you teleport)
      - Spawn some RL people that you think owe you something. For example, if someone's ever swindled you, it will be much easier to let the person work for you
      - Make a drawing/3D design IRL. Whenever you add/modify something in your dream, add it in the drawing. Study the design. Know where everything should be so if something might change, you can restore it easily.
      - Portals in the lair would be cool. For example: One that leads you to your house, one that leads you to the moon. One that leads to a random location
      - Build a Rocket launch site so you can take over the world while you sit back in your throne having your minion serve you an ice cold coke.
^that's a good one for sig

      The possibilities are endless
I really hopes it could work (with the things staying the same) I've heard some people who had their imaginary dream "house" so I think there's a real possibility.

I've had an ongoing plan to make myself a moon base on Europa sometime in the conceivable future. It'll be guarded by endless hordes of undead for shits and giggles. I'll let you know how it goes.

Has anyone seen Howl's Moving Castle? Howl has a door in his castle that goes outside. By the door he has a color wheel. He rotates the wheel and depending on which color he has shown the door opens to another place. He has four colors and so he has four houses but all one house. One color opens the door out onto a street in a city, another door opens out into a street in another city of another kingdom, one door opens out into the wilderness and he has a color that opens into a secret astral realm where he goes to battle demon wizards that forgot that they were ever human. The inside is all in his moving castle which walks around the wilderness, but in each other place there is a house in the cities that you walk up to and go through the door and enter the city. At one point in the movie he does a magick spell that totally rearranges and rebuilds his lair just like a lucid dream. He adds rooms and even another color on the magick door.
If you haven't seen it, go rent it, download it, or search for it on google video and set the duration on long to get the results for the full movie. It is about his dream lair.

Hm, I think I'll check that out.

Since this is such a big undertaking of a goal, I'm adding this to my slowly growing list of long-standing goals, which I intend to attempt over time, as I get more fluent with LDing.

Remember, if any of you have progress made on LDing with a dream lair, please post here!

EDIT: Added it to my Dream Journal under the custom Goal group "Long-standing Goals". Wish me luck!

All your base are belong to us

I was thinking about this a couple of days ago. It was mainly the first thing I wanted to do when I found out about becoming lucid. Just to build a secret lair or a city or something XD.

Now I only have one obstacle in front of me: Become lucid/gain control (I'm merging it to one...)

Ah, someone else is trying this!!

I have found/built a place over this last year where my dream persona(s) spend at least some of the time. It is an enormous 'apartment complex' if you will, with thousands of interconnected rooms of various sizes with no doors between them. The rooms are constantly being moved, and no one persona has any particular claim to any specific room. Some areas are for relaxation/lovemaking, some are merely for looking at, and others (like the auditorium) are added from other dream images that I have 'imported'.

I had been trying to find a place like this (the lair idea) for a long time in my lucid experiences, and I finally discovered how to do it so I could go back! Build it in/on/under some structure that is ingrained in your psyche. It is easy for me to go back/rebuild it, anytime I need it because it is someplace I will always remember: I built it around my grandmother's house, which was a nearly constant part of my non-lucid dreams!

      Hope this helps!

If I were to do this, I think I would make it a space station, sort of like those massive starbases seen in "Star Trek" but not quite that design. Being a dream and all, I could just spin myself into the place or perhaps step through a door, and then when I'm ready to head out, go the same way I went in.

I was thinking more of a mansion in the middle of an isolated field. Just a bunch of land until it hits just black space (Assuming that's possible.... But I guess it is possible because I just thought of it ).
