      Lucid Blackness

I had a lucid dream recently in which after I realized that I was dreaming everything went completely black. It was like I had woken up and my eyes were just closed BUT i was actually still dreaming. I tried to think up some dream landscapes but nothing appeared. After trying this for a while I just woke up. Has anyone ever had similar experiences?

      Huh...this is very interesting.

I remember 3 or 4 years ago this happened to me. I had a sad dream with one of my friends in it...Then, before I woke up, I saw blackness for about 4 seconds. It's just SO weird! It wasn't long enough for it to excalate like yours did, though.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

Mine didn't last that long either probably around 15 seconds.

Is it kind of like that blackness you get right when you're Wild'ing and about to enter a dream? Like maybe...a 3-D darkness if that makes any sense? My guess is that your mind goes into some sort of 'in-between' place before and after dreams where you either wake up or go back into the dream.

I've never done a WILD before. I've tried (not very hard) but I end up just falling asleep.

Yes, I have. I have experienced this many times. I would call this dreamless sleep. This is a particularly interesting phenomenon. From a self help place eventually you can watch dreams like they are TV. When you see self defeating patterns in dreams your ability to review them can clean up some negative habits. I have experienced this personally. Most of the time I experience it for about 2-3 minutes but once by pure accident I spent three hours there. I didn't seem like it took that long but when I first looked at the clock it was 3am then it was 6am!

I haven't been able to use it for this purpose every time but I really enjoy the experience.

To find out more about this you can look into Yoga Nidra or Tibetan Yogas of Dream & Sleep.
Thought plus emotion creates attitude. Attitude plus action creates experience and experience determines reality

I was just about to post the same thing, I had this just this morning. I became lucid and was in my room and tried to go through my mirror to somewhere else but everything went black and i couldn't do anything. (I didn't feel like I was going to wake-up though) Then I think I ended up in my garden which was really vivid but then everything went black again and then i probably woke-up.

This has happened a few times and interestingly I think it's been when I've taken Galantamine like I did this morning-2 capsules which is sometimes too much and seems to make me either be stuck in my bed not being able to move far, or to have a black out. No idea what to do though to stop it. It's very annoying.

I successfully performed my first WILD this morning and it happened to me also. It was so weird because I pretty much used my WILD to take this girl on a date [i'm bad] and then we were walking and I was holding her hand and then everything went black, BUT I could still feel her hand in my hand though... slowly after that everything else seemed to be disappearing and it was like I was just holding a weightless arm. Weird sensations to say the least.

I thought I was going to wake up, but I just concentrated on opening my dream eyes, so instead of actually trying to open my eyes I just imagined what it would be like to open them, and eventually I was in another dream!

Kind of annoying because I had to relocate that girl, but still good (:

I'll have to try that if it happens again. I don't remember if I opened my eyes up or just rolled over and woke up.

Hey thanks Jules - I had the same thing happen recently, and I had taken 2 capsules of Galantamine. Here's the dream in my DJ.

I tried to open my eyes but was afraid it would wake me up... instead it gave me a false awakening. I was thinking if it happens again I'll try asking for light or to be able to see, or for clarity. Or I'll try switching on a light.

Read your DJ-very interesting. Sometimes the Galantamine works great-sometimes one isn't enough and you need two but then two sometimes has the effect of lots of FAs and blackness-as we've found out. I feel like theres nothing I can do with the blackness and I can't control the dream so I just give up when I get the blackness. Hopefully we can find a solution though.

      unsure

unsure if your experiences are the same as mine in this regard, for when i find my self in that dark place, i am still able to walk around and explore it and investigate other words im still lucid while there.

i am unsure if this place is the same for everyone else to!
i saw someone say they dont know wat to do with this darkness when there.
you can try teleport out of there, give it a go.
or, run in any direction! run super fast if you can! for my self when i do this, as i run i try warping<fast running> and blurring my vision to make it a little faster, when i do this, in the distance a dark neighbourhood might come into focus if i done it correctly... its a interesting place but scary also, once i turned my self to fire and got rejected from the darkness

Have it a lot of times. Best thing for me is to do nothing. I just relax and let it happen. Most of the times i either return to the dream, of have a FA, and another dreamworld to visit.

And sometimes i wake up, do a RC, conclude its the real world, and go off to make me some coffee.
