      How excited is too excited?

So we all know that getting over exited in a LD will wake you up, but what I want to know is how excited do you need to get to wake up?

For example if you jump around screaming "I can't believe I'm LDing! I'm so happy!" That will probably wake you up. But if you do not express your excitedness and just think you're excited, will you still wake up / leave the dream?

Just want to know so I know my limits

By the way, just noticed I spelt the title wrong. Meant to say "Excited" not "Exited" :S

IMO it would differ between people. Some people can hold onto dreams very strongly and others not so much.
Only thing i can suggest is plan what happens when you become lucid when awake so you have it all layed out and don't get excited and start thinking "HOLLY CRAP WHAT DO I DO NOW?"
"Dont drink six beers at the same time?...BRILLIANT!"

For me, a fast heart beat is all it takes to wake me up. It's strange though since when you have nightmares, you can be as excited as you want and you just won't wake up.

I always seem to wake up within something like 20 seconds of becoming lucid.
I think it's because I get too excited, and the things I can do just race through my mind.

My advice is to "play it by ear". Just see what it takes to wake you up, and use stability control to assist you if it starts to fade.

It differs from dream to dream. I've had times where I couldn't wake up if wanted to on purpose, and I've had times where I've woken up during stabilization.

      Also....I corrected the title.

I dunno, I can get pretty excited in dreams, if I feel my dreams is starting to fade i have to freeze, calm down and the dream comes back

I've had a dream not so long ago about me having to carry an important mission to term, i had to save someone's life. I became lucid almost immediately after the beginning of the dream. Knowing someone's life depends entirely on you is obviously very exciting, but no matter how excited i was, i still didn't wake up. Though if i had gone all "yay i'm lucid dreaming, i can do whatever i want to with this dream" and started dancing around in circles or completely sabotaged the mission, i probably would have woken up.
I also had another dream where i had superpowers. I got all excited and started to fly around and throwing fireballs everywhere but i only woke up a couple of minutes later.
I guess i would have woken up in the first dream for getting excited because i wouldn't have been doing what i was supposed to do (carry the mission to term) while in the other dream, i didn't have any goals to reach whatsoever (so i could do whatever i wanted).

Anyway, for me it does depend on the dream i'm having. Though i also think it depends on the person, everybody dreams differently.

Actually, jumping around and screaming will probably prevent you from waking up. It's only when you excitement eclipses your focus on your surroundings that you will wake up.

I had a dream this morning DILD. I got so excited that I freaked like a kangaroo on drugs, by that I mean, really jumped up and down and talked to one DC telling him, I was dreaming and how cool it is and was really really enthusiastic.

Point is I feared at some point it could wake me up, but it didn't for some reason, it doesn't seem to be true for me, I had a long and stable LD. I did however do two sessions of preventive stabilizing exercises, but had neihter before nor after any signs of destabilization.

Excitement kicks me frequently out of WILD early stages. Just as I fade and recognize it, I get excited and wham am back. I can't do anything about it. I train to wild in the evening though, maybe that is harder too.

Maybe it depends on daytime, the DILD was kinda afternoon nap.

Getting too excited is a big problem for many of us i'm sure, especially if you don't get many LD's in the first place like myself. My main concern when I'm on the cusp of getting lucid is to either do an RC ASAP or if I'm really convinced i'm lucid right there and then is to start stabilising the dream scene straight away.

Another thing that gets me is panic! I had a dream the other night with a good chance of becoming lucid but I panicked when I was worried the dream would fade.
I was doing a WBTB and dreamt I was riding my motorcycle along the street but realised straight away that I'd only just gone back to sleep and so couldn't be true. I tried to do the nose-plug check but got confused with the rushing air that was coming at me from travelling at speed on the bike and that of me actually trying to breathe through my nose.
Hence, I didn't become lucid because I couldn't stop my bike fast enough before the dream faded to do a proper nose RC, lol. I think my dreams mock me in that way though!.

I think that you can get more excited the more used you get to the whole "knowing that you're dreaming" thing. My first lucid dreams were only a few seconds. I thought many people got the same feeling when they were just about to wake up. This was before I knew what lucid dreaming was. Turns out it's not as usual as I thought.

I think that the more used you get to lucid dreaming, the more you can act out in your dreams. Like doing crazy ninja flips or crushing a wall

Sometimes when I become lucid, and really lucid, I freak out and jump and shout 'woohoo!' But I don't wake up, it's probably because just an explanation and not as much a feeling.

I have only woken up from one LD so far; probably because I became scared of the dream itself. It was a false awakening and I couldn't get the lights to come on, so I got frightened of what could possibly happen.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

if you use your excitement to make something happen in the dream, youll probly be too busy to wake up! LOL instantly channel all that WOOHOO! into something that will keep you in the dream.
