      The Castle on the Mountain.

I've never known myself to have recurring dreams, but lately I've been having the same dream over and over again. I think last night was about the 10th time it's happened.

There's a small mountain covered in forest. I climb the mountain and at the top there is an old castle that no one has seen for centuries.

      That's it.

I'm not quite sure what is so important about this that merits a recurring status, but I'm curious to find out what you guys think of it. I've tried to figure it out myself, but I have absolutely no idea what it could mean.

      Thanks.

How often has it recurred, and how exact is the similarity?

What's the forest like? What kind of feelings to you get? Does the castle seem evil, good, or just mysterious?

Other than that, the best I could judge is that you're curious about something you've just stumbled across. Is there anything new in your life that you'd like to know more about?

Sorry I can't come up with anything conclusive for the moment, but post any details you remember and I'll get back to you.

      The Details...

It's occured at least fifteen times now...

In terms of the forest, it's just a regular forest. The castle, honestly just seems "cool" like it's mysterious old castle that I get the feeling no one has seen for centuries.

I think your theory about stumbling across something may be something worth noting... it sounds possible. I can't think of anything really that I'm like "I need to know more about you!" though...

Well, normally I'd say that the dream doesn't mean anything, if there's so little in terms of important details, but recurring that often makes me wonder otherwise. I can't think of any possible meanings for the moment though, but maybe somebody else will.

I'll take a stab at it. At an archetypal level the mountain is a symbol of power, the forgotten castle of power lost about to arise anew. Is it possible that you think you might understand something prophetic about the times in which we live?

I have no religious bias one way or the other, but the symbolism seems almost apocalyptic. As if you were suspecting the rise of antichrist or something. It also reminds me of several horror or suspense film settings.

Now take that with a grain of salt. Dreams mean what they mean to you first and foremost. It could be you have been playing Casltlevania too much, or have some wish to visit France. What it means it means to you, we can only see if you are willing to let yourself in on the secret.

So I suggest start with personal issues, then move to things around you on various scales and then lastly if it keeps recurring and you can find no other reason for it you might consider some spiritual aspects.

I say that because even though most here take dreams as only internal some do believe that we can connect to the supernatural through dreams. It certainly was a common belief among the ancients.

That raises an interesting question as to whether some of the ancient prophets were'nt really lucid dream experts whose massive cultural and religious training colored their dream worlds and gave to us the holy books we have today.

Maybe more than you were expecting, but I have had many dreams of power symbols and prophecy, they can be pretty exciting. I guess in your case it might be getting annoying.

ElijahJones, I think you may be on to something. I don't know... when I read what you wrote, it somehow felt like it made sense to me... only the meaning wasn't apocalyptic... actually, it felt like something different. Something good.

Huh. Thanks so much. I have the feeling that I'll at least be able to figure it out myself now. I just needed to be pointed in the right direction.

      Again. Thanks.

      Dear Greg,

The Mountain is your Spiritual Attainment. The Castle is your Higher Self.

Have you gotten inside yet? Getting inside might be the next trick you will need to figure out.

I would have to agree with Leo Volont on this one. Sounds like you are on the verge of rediscovering something "forgotten."

Yeah, I think he is really close.

I was thinking about it. This would be a good time to blow the dust off of Edith Hamilton's "Mythology" and find out how the different Heroes were able to deal with the Guards to the Underworld.

I once had a 'reading' by a very special Mystic. She was great. Has anybody here ever heard of Swami Muktananda... he died and now Guru Mia Chitvalasananda of the Siddha Yoga Organization took over his flock, but when he was dying he kept asking for this lady friend of mine. She was finally able to get the money together to fly to India, and so when she walks through the door, the Swami, the Spiritual Leader of thousands of devotees, says to her "I was waiting for you to get here" and he dies. Anyway, this lady friend gave me a reading and described just such a Castle on a Hill as the palace, the 'seat', of My Higher Self, my Atma. I would have to knock upon the door. I would be met by the Guards. I wish I could remember better how my Mystic Friend told me I could get past them. I suppose the trick is to truly and completely understant that the Castle on the Hill is not just any castle, but one's own Castle. The Guard to the Gate must be made to understand that one has come home.
