Dream Dictionary

Hi all Just want to post a quick question for debate. I've just finished reading Sigmund Freuds' Interpretation of dreams and though I don't agree with many of the things he says, I do agree that Dream Dictionaries are not really useful in interpreting dreams. My reason for thinking this is that it would implie that we are born with all the information from the dictionary lodged in our subconcious. I can believe that we pick up some of the symbols and their meanings throughout our life and that these can get incorporated in our dreams as described in the dictionary, but that's as far as it goes. What does everyone else think? All the best Chris

Meh I don't think dream dictionaries are accurate. Personally, things that occur in dreams are usually tied to recent waking life experiences. I think dreams are best interpreted by the individual because dreams are based on ones unique self, not someone else's interpretation of their own experiences. It just doesn't make sense.
