First time posting here. Hello all.

First of all. I was very pleased to find this site. What began my search for a forum like this was a series dreams I have been having lately and I have no idea how to understand them....hopefully someone will be able to shed some light an them. I am 38 years old and I live in a rural town..quite small in fact...not many places I haven't been locally or at least I know the area and have lived here my entire life. About 3 months ago I had a dream that really confused me. The general feeling was like a homecoming of sorts. In the dream I went to dinner with my parents to a restaurant that we used to go to when I was a kid...problem is I never went there...as a matter of fact the restaurant doesnt exist. At least not anywhere that I know of. When I was there it was very nostalgic. I remember the room where I played arcade games...the bathroom location...everything was familiar to me. In the dream I clearly remembered things from my past...but it wasnt my past. The memories were mine....family from reality just events that never happened. The subsequent dreams involved that diner and the town around it. It was my hometown but not my hometown. In the dream I had memories of going places with mom....even a small store where I would get toys. I was ill a lot as a child in reality and spent a lot of time at the doctor's office. In one dream I passed by a hospital/clinic I went to and it looks nothing like the one I actually went to. Whats odd is in the dreams...those are my memories from my childhood. The timeline and era in my dreams are the same as when I grew up but its a completely fictional area so I dont think its anything like past-life or anything. The feeling I get is just nostalgia for a place that I have never been to. Anyone else ever experienced anything like that? Is it possible to make up an alternate history/area in your mind and dream about it? I would appreciate any input. Thanks
