So was this sleep paralysis, like your brain not quite syncing up with your body waking up, essentially leaving your body in a paralyzed state despite being aware of your real surroundings? Or in a dream, you dreamed being in your bed, unable to move at some point?
It doesn't happen often, and it's been years since the last I experienced it, but sleep paralysis is freaky stuff. In my experience, I am involuntarily holding my breath during it as I panic to try and make my body respond to anything. The moment I think I will suffocate is the moment my body finally gasps out for air. At this point I'm finally fully awake and can move, with my limbs feeling like they are still halfway asleep, no doubt due to the lack of oxygen.
