"Friend Killed In School Shooting" Dream

I'll tell the drwam first, then real-life details relevant to the dream.

It started out with a bunch of students I knew and myself running away from the highschool commons break area where someone had just been shot. I did not know at the time who, or how many people, had been shot. I was running away at the start of the dream but after a bit, I was mostly just standing among the running students. trying to look at the commons. I turn quickly and lock eyes with my ex-girlfriend. She is obviously upset, but she has that look that tells me "You should know why she looks like that, it's something more than just a student being shot." I turn back to the break area. At this point, the actions of everybody and the atmosphere shifts-we (the students) are no longer running away, but almost trying to get back to the break area. The assistant principal and what I think were policemen, are holding us back and at this point I assume that the gunman has been caught. I feerl angry and rebelious in a way (because we are being held back) and I want to do something to try and break the line of people keeping us away. Other students are actually doing this and trying to run and break through the line. At this point, the actions and atmosphere shifts again- the students are running away again, but I'm still trying to stand my ground and look back. I turn again and catch eyes with one of my friends, Brittany. She also has the same look on her face as my ex did, but I still think nothing of it, I assume its just because were friends and I'm closer to her than some of the other students (the same mindset applies to when I looked at my ex). I then turn back to the break area and my friend Paden is running towards me. I stop him and ask him "Who was it?" (meaning, "who got shot?") He says "Kalin". I'm shocked and pull his head towards me and force his mouth to my ear. I ask him again calmly, "Who?" Again he says, "Kalin". With his face still in the side of my head, I yell this time, "WHO WAS IT?". Still calm he says again, "Kalin". I ask him about three more times, during this Brittany walks by again and she looks at me. I stumble to the ground and sit down, just staring in the direction of the break area. I'm almost crying. At this point, Paden jerks away from me (at this point I realize I was still grasping his arm or something) and he looks at me and says something about me not really caring. I think to myself "People won't know that I'm really upset about this since know one knows we're friends again." <----- I'll explain this below, as I'm sure it will help in the interpritation. At this point, the dreams ends.

Ok, first off-The people:

My Ex, Kayla-She was my last girlfriend and soon after we broke up, her and Kalin started dating. They are now broken up.

Brittany-Her and Kalin dated off and on for a few years, they have long since broken up for the last time.

Paden-I really can't say that I know what significance he has in this dream, me and him are mutual friends, and the same for him and Kalin. Other than that, nothing special I can think of.

Kalin-Kalin was my best friend in the first semester of the 2010-2011 school year, me and kayla broke up on December 29th (school was on winter break at this time). Kalin was upset with me for this and our friendship started to fizzle out. When he and Kayla started dating the following semester, our friendship ended completly. However, they broke up towards the end of the 2nd semester and at the middle of June, me and him starting talking again, and now were friends again.
***Now abaout that last thought-Everyone of my friends knows I was mad at Kalin and that we weren't friends, but no one knows that we have patched things up now. Thats why I think that thought at the end, because no one will know the hurt I feel, because no one knows we're friends again.

**Other thoughts-
I think the glances at Kayla and Brittany were becauser they knew it was Kalin who had been shot and assumed I knew it, hence the feeling I got. Almost like the glances were that of "Mutual understanding". Like the glance you give your friend when something happens and he gives you that same look back and you know at that point that you're both thinking the same thing.

Again, I jave no idea why Paden was in this dream or why he played the role he did, so if anyone has any thoughts on that, I'd love to hear them.

I'm sure the dream centers on Kalin being shot, but I don't know what that means and I think that's the main thing I want answered, but any other opinions or thoughts on the other parts of the dream would be awesome and much appreciated.

Also, I will give more details if you ask. I know people complain about people posting and then leaving it to lie until they get a full answer, but I'm not like that, so I'll give any extra details needed.
