      Death By Penetration

I walk through my front yard and slide the gate open and walk a few yards beyond it when I see a figure dashing from out of the darkness. My heart races and I try to make my way back to the yard and I feel a warm blade slip imbetween two of my ribs in my upper back. There's another hand holding my head grunting in my hear, "You tellin me to shut up, huh? Who's shuttin' up now bitch..." The dark figure continues by twisting the blade in circular movements, my face writhing as porchlight shimmers on it in the dark. The assailant releases me and I stagger towards the gate. I'm too weak to move. My knees give way and my right hand reaches out in the darkness. I feel my life fading away as my lungs fill with fluid. The dream is enveloped in darkness and I awaken.

Shitty dream. It feels very, very foreboding considering I live in the drug-dealer section of town.

It seems almost like an excerpt from a book. Well written to be sure. You are talented, a writer or an art student? Songwriter?

To be honest I am having trouble believing this one, no offence. I am not sure that you would feel your lungs filling with fluid in real life, probably more like a heaviness in your chest. But if you are medically knowledgable and literary maybe your dreams are writing books for you.

The warm blade is also interesting because your body temperature is 98 so the blade would have to have been warmer then that for you to have that sensation.

So there is the criticism. Now lets assume all is kosher. It could be

      1) a dark dramatic impulse
      2) you live in a bad neighborhood
      3) you recently watched a movie along those lines
      4) you were chemically altered at the time
      5) you are living in fear of your life (perhaps you were once in a gang)

If you think about it, it must have a genesis in something that has happened or is happening in the real world. So the details of your life are important. I would sit down and ask yourself what it means.

      Regards,

      EJ

      Ouch!

I sort of wished you had stayed with the dream a bit longer so that you would realize that you had not really died, for unless this dream was truly a premonition, then it was a dream in which you were being made to experience Dream Death which lasts at most a minute. After a few Dream Deaths, where you realize you are not really being killed, you learn to become much more brave in one's dreams. Courage becomes second nature when you are confident nothing can really harm you.

But just to be on the safe side, be uniformaly polite to everybody.

Have you noticed that throughout History the politest Societies have always evolved from the most violent societies. There is a reason for this. In a very violent society, all of the rude and obnoxious people are soon killed off. So be polite to everybody. Show hospitality to everybody. Where crime is concerned be like every citizen of New Jersey who learns on their mother's knee that when a the nice policeman askes what they saw, to say "I didn't see nothin'"* In short, just show people respect and you will never be killed for having been a 'bitch'.

      * In Lakehurst New Jersey in 1933 when the Hindenburg Zippelin crashed and burned ("Oh the Humanity!") the newsreporters were doing interviews on the street to get the reaction of the people on the street. They approached an Italian American and asked his impression of the disaster, that had been visible for 10 miles around, and all this while the Hindenburg's landing at Lakehurst was something akin to Lindburg's crossing of the Atlantic or the first flight of the Aerorbus A380 (Hurray!!!) so everybody, for sure, had been looking up. But the Italian American, true to form when confronted with authority spoke those classic words: "I didn't see nothin'" Now, that's a guy you could trust! He's probably still alive.

You thought it... but did it need to be said?

A little off topic here. It seems that this dream bothered Berserk_Exodus and that is why he posted it here.

I personally don't know why he would write this if it were fake and didn't actually care about our responses. I personally have very violent dreams all the time so I see nothing weird about this. I wish I could give more in the way of an interpretation but it is not really my area. Sometimes dreams are just dreams but I also believe that sometimes they are more so if this dream really bothered you I would take ElijahJones' advice and examine your life and maybe tell us what you think it means???

Yeah Alaurast, I agree there is always the chance that it means nothing at all. Alot of dreams are like that. And I did not mean to be rude with the comment about it not being real. Everyone has unique dreams, the setting and style may be very different than our own experiences I think.

was it very vivid? o_o precognitive dreams usually are.
but never jump to conclusions when it comes to dreams, increase caution maybe when it is a dream like this, but never assume.
do you maybe feel like someone in your life is "stabbing you in the back"? I have read of dreams using metaphors...that is the first thing I thought of.

I know this is a little late, haven't checked back on the forum in a long time but, in response to your question, it was an extremely vivid dream. I don't have ones like these very often. Strangely enough, I'm not even sure it is a blade, it could possibly even be a screwdriver. Wierd thing was, I could feel the object in my lung, I could feel blood pouring in and my body's energy rapidly being sucked out of it. I felt an amount of pain I never have in real life, which isn't present often in my nightmares.

And Elijiah, just a kid with a naturally well evolved way with words. The dream is never far from my memory considering it occured on my property. I've always had a knife, but now I carry it everywhere. I'm pretty sure it's a warning because if it were a "premonition" it would mean that it could be changed. Unless of course that ol' pesky paradox is involved...

It's a funny thing to see so little emotional content reported in the dream interpretation section.

How were you feeling about being killed/threatened?

I think our interpretations will vary with different emotions (anger, resentment, fear, regret).

Maybe it was death in a past life? Maybe a rejected lover.
