Can anyone help me to understand this dream?

I awoke this morning so disturbed that I had to get on the internet and try to understand what my most recent dream meant. Since Google was really no help, I decided to sign up for a few different dream interpretation forums. To start off, I have had no real relationship with my biological father since I was about 3, I am now 19. Two years ago my boyfriend & I drove 3000 miles so that I could reunite with him. This lasted for a few months and due to a series of events we have not spoken in some time now. From the time I was 4 until the time I was 13, my step-father raised me. He and my mother got married and he adopted me. When they divorced I was 13 and he and I lost contact. Recently I have been reconnecting with him and it has been wonderful. Now I don't know if any of that has anything to do with my dream, but here it is; Last night, I had a dream that I was at my great grandmother's house (somewhere I don't go often) & my biological father was there, with some woman I have never seen who I am assuming was his girlfriend. The woman was on the phone arguing with a man who had robbed them of money or drugs or something of that nature. My biological father does not do drugs so I was confused to begin with. As the dream went on I remember looking out the window into my grandma's front yard and seeing a man walking towards her house, it was the man who had robbed them. My cousin, Frankie, who was nearly killed in a horrific car accident and has suffered some brain damage because of it, was suddenly outside with the man. He began beating him brutally. He beat him so bad that he killed him. I remember crying and looking at everyone in my family who would not do anything about it, I even said out loud "Do any of you have a heart at all?" Next thing I knew, a few males from my family were in my grandma's backyard burying the dead man's body. In the dream, and even now, I was/am so disturbed. Such a dark feeling, I can't explain it and I do not nearly understand it. I'm sure I can recall more details if anyone has any questions to help me understand this. Please try.

I'm not very well-versed in dream interpretation, and find it much easier to try to interpret my own rather than someone else's, but Ill take a stab at it.

The thing that immediately occurred to me is that the man who "stole some money or drugs" represents whatever caused your biological father to put you up for adoption perhaps? And your brother beating him represents your own anger against whatever it is that caused it?

That's my best shot, though there are people who might be able to do much better. Best of luck finding an answer!

I appreciate your effort. If it helps at all I will give a bit more detail..my mother and I moved to a completely different state when I was 3 so that she could get me away from my biological father who at the time, was on drugs...she did not want me growing up around that. When she re-married, her new husband took over the responsibility of acting as my father and adopted me from my biological father. When my biological father and I met he told me that he had a lot of resentment towards both my mother and step-father because according to him, he never wanted to lose contact with me. So, there was really no 'reason' that he gave me up for adoption other than the fact that he had nothing to do with me for so long and by the time the adoption was finalized (3 years later) I was already recognizing my step-father as the only father I had. I do feel that this dream has something to do with either resentment towards my biological father or step-father, but I just don't understand it completely and it is really bothering me. I am going to bed now and I hope to pick up where I left off last night to help me learn more about the meaning of this dream. Thank you again for your effort.

Also, my cousin in the dream who beat the mysterious man to death, I don't have much of a relationship with. He was a big part of my life when I was younger but not anymore. In the dream I saw him how he used to be, before the accident.

Hi freebird, dream symbols vary depending on the dreamer but the nature of dreaming is fairly universal. The dream represents something from the dreamers subconscious so is as likely to reflect fears and hopes as it is information from waking life. I'm a bit rusty on my interpreting but I'll try.

Metaphor, literal representations, mixing of events from life and strangers representing situations in dreams are common. The stranger who is killed in your dream could represent the situation surrounding your childhood (since that's what you were thinking and dreaming about), that he is a robber maybe the stranger (situation) robbed your extended family of the chance to spend time with you? The anger they expressed would be directed toward the situation, not a person, and come from the subconscious which can be dramatic, unrestrained and focused on emotion which is why it was such a vivid scene.

That the "stranger" is killed and buried could be a literal interpretation of the saying "dead and buried" as in a situation people don't usually want to talk about, that you protested and it upset you quite a lot makes me think the dream had come from either a fear the people involved might not want to talk about it when you do, or that maybe you want to put the worst of it behind you to focus on the good instead but something is preventing it. Fortunately dreams don't need to be true to life. I hope this is some help.

Hi, I have never done this before but this is my jist on things.

This dream is about having some sympathy with those people but at the same time not regretting your past because it made you who you are.

The great-grandmothers house, your cousin(as he was before) and your biological father all represent the past which you have put behind you. Your biological father and cousin both hold resentment about the past and the stranger represents the circumstances that led to it.

You are upset at the stranger being buried as it is like most of your life being buried. I think he is a stranger because the stranger represents the future (after your Mum leaving up until present) and therefore what would have been the unknown. In a way they are burying you and this is why you are upset. Or I could be completley wrong...but its an idea.
