      Question Setting clothing on fire?

A few nights ago I had the strangest dream. I do have some ideas about it, but I was wondering if there is any general symbolism attached the the elements of my dream.

Basics: I am a 27-year-old American woman. I have been married to my husband for almost 3 years now.

In the dream I am standing high on a hilltop. There is a chill in the air and the wind is blowing. It is overcast outside and in the distance I can see and hear the ocean. I am in some sort of traditional dress...a long brown skirt made of wool or possibly homespun. It seemed very bulky and the fabric was coarse. My blouse was soft cotton, possibly muslin, and it was white.

In my hands I held a kilt. I lifted it up on the air and tore it almost completely in half, but not quite. I was crying a little as I did this. Then, I held the torn garment in one hand and set it on fire with the other. I held onto it with my thumb and forefinger and watched it burn, intently observing what was happening.

The dreamed stopped or I was awakened before the fire reached my hand.

I do have thoughts on this and what it might specifically mean for me, but I wanted to know a little about any symbolism that might be here.

There is no such thing as universal symbolism in dreams. Symbols are usually very individual. Also not every dream has to have some important message ( its rather rare ).
If you really want some one to guess:
My guess is that there is or will be or shoud be some changes in your life. Burning something could mean that something ends/transforms.

Every dream has some personal meaning and significance. This dream has you dressed in Scottish attire , standing in a "typical" Scottish scenic area, and the kilt you are tearing and burning are related to men/a man. Any connection or memories that relate to Scotland?
