What do you think? Elevator crash, death, and teachers...

I typed this up in MS word when I got home from school. What do you think about my dream? Can you tell me what it means?

I usually don't remember my dreams, but when I do, they are usually very weird. I tend to know a lot of things in my dreams, but have no idea where that knowledge came from. There are a lot of very out of place things, but I don’t really realize it until i wake up and think about the dream. I decided to write out the following dream because it was very different from all my other dreams; it was very disturbing. I felt like I had to write it, or else I would go crazy.


It started off with me in a hotel that I have dreamed about before. Its not a real place, just a setting for a few other dreams I have had. It stared off with me walking to the elevator. Then I saw two people in wheelchairs getting in to the elevator, it was just one man and one woman. I looked out side and saw a bus. I knew that they got off that bus. It was just a regular short school bus. The man was already in the elevator, so I kindly pushed the woman into it. We got in the elevator, and started going up. The elevator had no door, but that was not strange to any of us, we just kept going.

I realized that the wheels of the man’s chair were grinding against the walls of the elevator shaft. I knew that was bad, and that we were in big trouble. All of a sudden I was filled with this awful feeling of fear, and I got very sick to my stomach. We were supposed to get off at the top floor,5, but we kept going up. Through the big whole, where the door would usually be, I saw a thin ledge made of plywood. It looked like someone had nailed a two by for to the walls of the elevator shaft. A few feet above it, I saw another small piece of wood jutting out from the wall. I jumped on to the two by four and held on to the wall, with the other piece of wood, with my hands.

Then the elevator started falling fast. When it hit the ground I knew the lady was dead, but the man was holding on to the two by four that I was standing on. I had an extreme sense on helplessness as I saw the man fall to the ground. The most awful part was that he did not die. He just laid there moaning for help; His legs were cut off from his body. Then I started crying. I never cry in my dreams.

Then I was in my grandfathers kitchen. Still crying. I was standing with my back to the stove, and there was a group of people in a semi-circle around me. There was some guy in the middle talking to us, but I wasn’t listening. I was still crying. I knew that they all felt sorry for me. Then from the room behind me, my math teacher from last year walks by me. She was crying to. She stopped to look at me for a long while, then handed me a bag of small brown cupcakes.

The weird thing is that my mom gave me a cupcake that looked exactly like the ones in the bag when she was driving me to school. I didn’t realize that until just now.

After she gave me the cupcakes she just walked away crying. I stepped away from the group, to put them in the counter. They stopped talking and waited for me to come back before they continued I knew I should be embarrassed but I wasn't.

Hi Sam, Sounds like a pretty awful dream, and I wonder if you have been through a difficult time recently? I guess elevators are about the difficulties and the successes that we have in life. The hotel is like a home away from home. Lots of people dream about hotels, I'm not exactly sure what they represent, but I think it has something to do with not quite understanding yourself or not quite feeling comfortable in your own life. It could also be about trying or experiencing something different.... Any thoughts here?

When you get to the elevator, you wheel in two disabled people, a man and a woman. Since walking and legs tend to represent how you get through life and how you support yourself (financially and emotionally) I am guessing that the wheelchairs probably represent something which had been making it difficult for you to get through life or get on with whatever you were doing, but you made a go of it and did the best you could.

The number 5 as in you are supposed to go to the fifth floor, could be representative of something significant that happened to you when you were 5 or something that happened 5 years ago. Anything spring to mind? In particular something that relates to the difficulties you are having at the moment?

The rest of the dream is representative of whatever difficulty is going on with you at the moment. It is almost like this was a sudden thing that happened. The great fall in the elevator and that sense of dread you had. The man at the bottom, I guess represents the suffering. You said the worst thing was that he didn't die. I guess the suffering is continued. His legs were severed is probably about your life coming to a complete standstill.

The part where you are in your grandfather's house seems to be about people trying to comfort you perhaps. Your grandad might have something to do with the sad thing that has happened???? The cupcake probably represents comforting. Maybe your Mum wanted to cheer you up with that cupcake? So it might represent people trying to give you comfort.

I hope everything is okay. It sounds to me like some kind of tragedy has happened to you or someone close to you. Take care...
