Anxiety dreams I think, need them to go away.

I have been having nightmares for weeks now. I wake up sweaty and short of breath. Sometimes I can tell my hubbie about them but sometimes I can't. I dream that I am still married to my first husband whom I left for my current husband. I wake up with tightness in my chest b/c i think it's real and I am in fact still with him. My current hubbie has had to wake me up b/c I'm crying ( just noises to him). I don't see my first husband ever, he moved away. I'm so tired of those dreams.

then another dream I have is about someone I was chatting with before this hubbie, sort of inbetween us actually getting together. We really liked each other and there was definite chemistry but he still had a girlfriend. I walked away once I found that out. then he didn't have a girlfriend and I started dating my current hubbie. i still had feelings for this guy and I know he liked me a lot but I had moved on.....sort of. things got tense when i got pregnant with my first daughter and this other guy wouldn't talk to me. 6 yrs later i dream about being with him.... so i know what that is saying...unfinished business with him. right?

then last night I woke up short of breath b/c there was a dog (maybe bulldog) that had large long long teeth when he opened his mouth. i told everyone around me to calm down and he wouldn't hurt anyone. we then decided to call dog catcher to come get him. she shows up and says he's not really a dog. he has one large long tooth that comes down the middle and when he closes his mouth it slides into a large tube inside his mouth. dog catcher calls police to come shoot him, rcmp shows up shoots dog, then dog catcher then himself. i woke up then when i finally got back to sleep about 2.5 hrs later, i dreamt that the police officer shot dog, then dog catcher then came into house after me.... what's up with this one. I have so many more to share.

You need to deal with the source - whatever is causing the anxiety in the first place.

The last couple of dreams sound pretty serious, as if they're telling you your internal problems are threatening your mind. The key might lie in something you said - you said you have 'unfinished business' with a former lover or boyfriend. What makes you say that? Did you just read somewhere that dreaming of an old lover mean unfinished business? Or are you seriously considering getting back with him?

It could also represent some underlying need to work through some unresolved issue.
It may not necessarily be the former partner but what they represent, certain qualities in their character that perhaps you seek in your husband.
Or it could be something you feel you can't share with the current partner be it intimacy or some unresolved issue, if the dog dream is related it could be the fear that taking some a particular step could have consequences that you hope to resolve securely.
