      therian dream

Ok, I actually found this forum while looking around for a non-psychic dream interpretation. (surprisingly hard to find) To begin I need to give a bit of background on myself. I am a therianthrope, what this means is I feel that part of my mind is not human. Specificly I feel that this part of me is that of a small wildcat called a jaguarundi.(the cat in my avatar and sig although they obviously don't really have wings, and I don't believe that my wereside does either ) Anyway, my dreams are almost always fragments when they are not nightmares so this one really stands out and I think it have some kind of significance because it has stayed with me vividly for quite some time.

In this one I was sitting on my porch with my family (maybe some kind of holiday celebration or birthday party because everyone was there). My friend and I were talking and I look up and see what I think is a mother jaguarundi with a big cub. I slowly walk over and my friend comes with me. As I get closer I can see that it is actually a jaguarundi and a very dark genet. They stop and look at me and I can tell they are intelligent. For some reason the genet is always at the jaguarundi's left and seems to be less confident. She keeps looking to him (somehow I know their genders already), as if for guidance. My friend and the scenery fades out and the animals become human. For some reason they remind me of Adam and Eve. Anyway, they tell me they have discovered the secret and then the dream ends before I hear the secret.

On a side note, I did have a semi-lucid dream before where I was in an apocalyptic world and I was protecting some little girl. When the people who were after her caught us I realized "this is a dream, I better shift so I can protect her", so I did although I became kind-of a classic werewolf type of anthromorphization of a jaguarundi.

      Anyway, any ideas?

      Hi! Interesting background.
I am just in weird mood this morning of having fun interpreting dreams. So I decided to help you out, but keep in mind that this is speculation on my part and the answers to your dreams are within you.

Dreams represent your inner self--basically your subconscious levels of mind that reflect your ideals, emotions, expectations, fantasies, and fears, etc.

Your dream comes across to me as if your mind is expanding on your feelings of yourself and how you view yourself. You admit to having that side of an animal-like mind. Your dream may be simply showing you your thoughts. As for the mother and baby cub and the dream of you protecting the girl seem to coincide. It can be viewed at at two different angles:

1.) You view yourself as a protector. (mother cat)
2.) You actually need a protector in your life. You crave or want to be protected. (the little girl/cat cub)

You must find the answer on your own with this one.

As for the cats looking intelligent is a reflection of your view of yourself since you again feel that part of your mind is part of this type of animal.

As for the cub being on the left--that depends on your knowledge of cliches in society...I suppose. When one is on the right--it means like an advisor, right-handed man. On the left is viewed 'sinister'. A left-handed person in the past was always looked down upon as can never be as good as the right-handed person. Hence could also explain being less confident.

Now you said it was a mother cat and then said it was a 'him'. This might show you are actually represented by #2 above with regarding the protection.

The animals coming human might represent that they representing human traits especially the human trait of 'protecting'. This seems a common theme in this dream and the other. You should really question this in regards to your life.

The secret of course has something to do with your life. That you must find on your own.

I hope this helps a bit

Thanks for replying! That does make some sense. Actually, the mother/cub was my first impression, but as I looked closer it was actually two different species. A genet looks feline, but it's actually more closely related to a mongoose. *shrug* I don't know if that would change much though, it still seemed to look up to the cat.I hadn't really thought about them both being conflicting sides of my personality, but I guess that would make sense. I had actually considered the possibility of the genet being a second therioside, but they seemed to be more human than animal and I had never experienced anything else that would lead me to that conclusion so I don't think that is it....

As I said--the interpretation is somewhere within you. You know more about yourself and you talking about your dream is helping you figure it out and figure yourself out even more so. I can definitely see that you are actually doing just that

This dream being so vivid to you does show it has its importance. A lot of my dreams reflect day's events. Then you get those dreams that are very weird and sincere. You just know it. You feel it. I would embrace this dream and consider it with regards to getting to know yourself ^_^

Heh, yeah, just wish it was easier to figure out! I do appreciate the insight though, an outside perspective can be helpful too. Especially to prompt a novel direction of interpretation.
This is actually my favorite dream even if I don't know exactly what's behind it yet.
