Absurd Dream About Raping A Mermaid

I had this really absurd dream last night. I don't remember all the details, but I remember I was swimming (and human) in the ocean. I some how came across a mermaid with blondish brown hair. All of a sudden I remember feeling extremely sexually frustrated and angry so I grabbed her and forced her to the sand and raped her even though I wasn't fully erect. She was crying and struggling to get away but I wouldn't let her. After that I woke up. It was really absurd and I've never had a dream about rape before nor mermaids.

Lately there has been quite a few things bothering me in my personal life. I'm married, and my wife and I live in our house with her parents who are looking for their own place. They haven't been able to leave yet and that has caused some upset. My wife and I also have not had sex in a couple weeks. There was also an issue with another man (who lives across the country) trying to woo my wife but she has told him she does not like his advances. However I still have a lot of negative feelings associated with that where I question if more is going on that I don't know about (are they really having an affair? Is there more to the story? etc.). He sends her gifts all the time and I have found an email where he's told her he loves her so much.

I'm not sure if the mermaid looked like my wife or not, it was hard to tell what the mermaid looked like other than the fact she was a mermaid. But as you can see, there is a lot of stupid crap going on so I'm wondering what this dream means and whether or not it is even related. Thanks.

The anger and frustration you feel in waking life is very likely to reflect on your dreams. Rape is almost never about sex, but about control. You may feel out of control, not being able to move, not being able to stop the other guy, no matter how much you wish you could. And of course sexual frustration plays it's role too.

I believe, that sometimes dreams are trying to show us alternate ending. To show us, how it would feel to do something. Not sure if you got any feeling from this dream, but if you woke up feeling crappy about yourself, maybe the message is not to force anything, that you could regret later, but to try and solve your issues in nice manner. Just my opinion, of course. Wish you good luck.

I agree that the rape could just be your sexual frustration or your frustration over being out of control.

The mermaid might just be what your mind created to represent a beautiful girl. Just because she didn't look like, or you don't remember her looking like, your wife doesn't mean that the mermaid didn't represent your wife. Maybe it's a testimony to how much you love your wife if you're painting her as a mermaid.

Running with this, your wife being a mermaid probably reflects a fear that you might be losing her. Mermaids are obviously elusive, and probably hard to catch and keep hold of (they've got fish tails after all) and could at any time swim off and be lost to the ocean forever. If this guy is on the other-side of the country, this makes a lot of sense.

I didn't realise this was so old, but someone rose it from the depths.
I can't resist a mermaid tale, and want to uncover its mystery.

A mermaid is an impossible creature that can't exist, let alone a human trying to be with her.
It could also be a fantasy.
That's how you felt then about your wife, which made you extremely frustrated and angry.
Your virility or potency was half gone.
So that fits with control as gab said, and it fits with power.
And rape is taking what (you feel) isn't yours.
