Last night, I dreamt that I was in a haunted house with my parents and our dog. The spirits kept giving us those tasks, sort of like tests, and if we failed them, we'd die. When we finally got to the last task (singing a good song, preferably R&B... yeah, wtf?), some people who were helping the spirits decided that enough was enough and decided to let us go. Then, as we were leaving the house, those people suddenly became the spirits and they thanked me. They shook my hand and said they were finally able to move on. The last thing I remember is feeling a cold hand holding my hand, someone saying "you still don't believe we're real, do you?" and someone whispering in my ear (no idea what it was, it just felt like they were softly blowing air in my ear). |

Just found this thread again... and it's still not obvious to me. |

Well, if you do not believe in ghosts and yet are kind afraid of them, I would say that is exactly what this dream was about. I don't think it needs to be about anything more than that, or does it? If it is about anything more, I am afraid I do not know what. |

It seems to me like you believe in them more than you think; How can you be afraid of them if you don't believe in them to some degree? I don't understand how. Whatever the case, They thanked you. |

I see nothing strange with this, it's the reality of the unconscious. Many rational men are afraid of the dark. In their world view there are no such things as ghosts or paranormal phenomena, and their identity is that of a rational man who know how the world works, but yet they have many superstitions and won't walk past a grave yard at midnight which of course is totally irrational. I would even go so far, based on my experienced, that those who see themselves as most rational, are the most irrational people I've met -- the right hand doesn't know what the left hand does, yet they "know" they are masters of their own house. So all irrational content of their unconscious that they suppress are projected unto the outside and they are afraid of the dark. |

The thing about this dream that really got to me wasn't the fact that one of the spirits said that, it's... well, everything. It's been a year, and I still can remember everything, as if I had just woken up from it. In fact, I had to check the date of this thread, because I honestly thought this dream had happened two months ago. |

I still remember the lyrics of a silly song that another girl taught me on a playground about thirty years ago. The premise of the song is that kissing can make one pregnant. It is a pretty silly and meaningless song, but out of some strange reason my memory has decided to retain the complete lyrics for thirty years. I do not remember much more important stuff, in fact I am often frustrated by my Swiss cheese memory. Why can't my mind use memory more efficiently! What I am saying here is that just because you remember this dream in detail does not mean that it has to be important - though of course it may be, but no guarantees. |
