Friend asks for space :/

Hi all, new here, so I'll give you all pertinent info.

I'm female, near 28, socially awkward around people I do not know, asexual, and somewhat emotionally immature in the sense that I am not very good at expressing them. The friend in this dream is relatively new to my life, met just a year ago, she's gay and in a committed relationship. Our friendship is pretty easy, and I care for her a great deal.

In the dream we were at her place, sitting on the floor, we're about to play a board game, yet to be decided, and she reaches behind her and pulls out a note pad, gets all serious and says to me "I gotta ask you a question." I'm like "shoot, ok. What is it?" She shows me the note pad which has 2 collumns, written in blue ballpoint, titled "his and hers questions" and she points to the right hand collumn at the top, the first question marked with a star and says it out loud, "Do you feel that you require a great deal of space?" I was a little confused at the question, but answered earnestly, "Not really, I mean, we see each other maybe once a week if that. Do you?" She put down pad and pen, and she looks into my eyes and says, "Yes. Yes I do." I was saddened, but accepting, and I said, "So you need me to walk away?" And she replied "Yes." I ask why and she says "Because I'm in love with you."

And then I woke up.

Now I actually haven't seen this person in a couple of weeks, since I've been pretty busy.

Any interpretations would be appreciated. If mre info required, please ask specific questions. Dream wise, this is the whole thing as I remember it.
