Need some help interpreting my dream.

Hello all, my name is James. I have always been into dreams and have been following the forums here for a little while now. I had a strange dream last night that I am having some troubles figuring out. Before I went to sleep, I asked some specific questions that I wanted answers to and asked for help from a specific person/entity that I wanted assistance from. I am going to refrain from telling you all what I asked and who I wanted help from, just so I get some unbiased interpretations from the signs that where in my dream. I apologize for that, but I have seen too many interpretations that were lame and very far fetched due to the fact that the dreamer gave this information beforehand. I want to hear what you all think of the dream itself for what it is and what generally some of the images/situations could mean and I will relate them to what I asked and who I asked for help from. After I get a few responses and I think it through, I will gladly share what I asked and who I asked for help from.

Ok, a little about myself. I am a thirty year old singer/performer/voice teacher (opera and musical theater, mostly) originally from MN. I recently, after several years of traveling back and forth, moved to NYC and it has been going great! I got a job in less than a week from moving and and a nice apartment very recently with one of my best friends. Seems like everything is fitting into place very, very nicely! I do miss my family, friends, and my dog I had to leave behind but, due to a family member working for an airline, I can visit home any time I want for free! So, I have had a major change in my life recently, although a very positive one.

Ok, now for the dream.

the first part of the dream was a little tough to remember, but it was short. I was walking through a narrow corridor that could have been a hallway but, for some reason, could have been a trail in the woods. This was the part I had the most trouble about the specifics of the location. Anyway, the most important thing was, in my opinion, the fact that, at the end of the corridor, I came across a man with grey hair sitting on a white lion. I wasn't scared, nervous,or remember having any negative reaction to him. I seemed very comfortable with him. We had a conversation but, alas, I don't remember it....very much like watching TV with the mute on.

The next part came immediately. I was in a very nondescript place and I was singing. This is pretty normal for my dreams, since I sing and have studied for many years in college and in grad school. What did stick out for me was that the focus of the singing was with a very healthy, simple, sought after technique that I have been working on reinforcing!

The third, and last part, of my dream is the strangest for me. The scene opened with my being outside of my parents house at night. There was a serial killer in my neighborhood and I was outside trying to hide from him, since we was going from house to house (hadn't killed anyone yet, to my knowledge). I was able to convince my older brother to get out of the house with me to run from him. While we were running, we noticed the killer was actually in my parents house. We ended up in my neighbors yard and saw my neighbor outside. We told him to be careful as my older bro and I went into my parents yard and starting looking through the windows.

We looked in and saw the killer (who was a little disfigured and, for some reason, swore he should have been wearing a mask, but wasn't) sitting on a chair in my parents family room talking to my mother and little brother like he was a guest. Anyway, we snuck in the house through the back door and was able to get my mom's attention. She excused herself and my little brother and, while putting on her shoes and coat, told him that they were leaving and would be right back. My mother seemed nervous soon she and my little brother joined myself and my older brother in the front yard. We all took off and I was the last to move. The killer ended up in the front yard right after us and, before I could get a start, chased us. He caught up with me very quickly and grabbed my arm like he was going to hurt me, and then stopped and said something along the lines of "She told me not to touch anyone anymore". I remember being scared and surprised when he chased me and I couldn't get away. When he let me go and I caught up to my brothers and mom, I was like a kid who just saw something awesome..telling them "Wow! I thought I was done and he let me go!". My mother was saying "He only killed one lady, he's not that bad"..or something along those lines.

Suddenly, I was in a large room with lots of people I didn't know for a celebration....I am almost sure it was a wedding. Well, all of a sudden a voice came over a loudspeaker telling everyone to find a dance partner for a slow dance. I walked around the giant room and I remember I was looking for a specific lady for my partner. I couldn't find her and, suddely, I noticed a different lady than the one I was looking for smile at me. I went over to dance with her, but then noticed that she was really drunk and confused, so I chuckled, shook my head and handed her off to a guy sitting at her table and comment on how I thought she was drunk and that he should watch her. After that, I walked to a corner of the room and actually saw the serial killer in the party. He was wearing white and his skin was very pale/white. I walked up to him, shook his hand, thanked him, and went on my way (assuming for not killing me? lol)

Well, after looking for a while and not finding the girl I was looking for, a guy I didn't know, but somehow recognized him as someone I knew, for some reason, came up to me told me that I should dance with this one girl (a different one than I was looking for) that I was talking to earlier in the night....he referred to her as "That mod girl" I think he said. I don't actually know who he was talking about but somehow recollected and vaguely remembered seeing the girl he was telling me I should dance with. After that, I woke up.

If anyone can help me out with some of the general meanings of the symbols in my dream, that would be great! I also decided, as I was writing this, to share who I asked for help from. I asked for help from my guardian angel/spirit/whatever version of this you believe in. As for the questions I asked, I will leave this for later...after I get some feedback!
