A primitive town that chants "The bomb will break the leg..."

I'm always impressed by the high-level dream analysis on this site, and definitely appreciate your reading this and offering your thoughts. I had quite the dream last night for you to consider (as preface, I'm 28 and male, I'll give more details about myself in the dream):

The dream started with a plane crash. I was flying a small, private jet (in real life, by the way, I'm not a pilot and have never flown a plane, but in the dream, it seemed to be something I was quite familiar with doing) from my home in San Jose, California to neighboring Monterey.

Unfortunately, the plane went down. Nobody was hurt, but the plane was completely destroyed. In the dream, I was accompanied by my "friend," Graeme. (In real life, I'm a professor at a university and Graeme is one of my course assistants. In the dream, although Graeme looked and sounded exactly the same, he was not my course assistant -- instead, we were the same age and were close friends, having grown up together).

Somehow (don't ask me how), my car was near the site of the plane crash, so we drove the car the rest of the way to Monterey.

In real life Monterey is a lovely city by the sea, but in my dream, Monterey was a primitive town of pioneers and coalminers. In the dream, this wasn't anything at all unexpected; this is the town we thought we were en route to all along. But, of course, when I woke up, I could recognize the difference.

The townpeople in Monterey would occasionally chant "The bomb will break the leg, the bomb will break the leg. First, it broke the window, now the bomb will break the leg..."

As I walked through the town, I encountered two women, Nelly and Natasha. Beautiful ladies, both quite petite (short and svelte), with dark hair, pretty faces, and gorgeous features.

I tried to figure out how to get my plane out of there. I didn't want to drive home because that would involve leaving the plane behind.

It turned out all I really needed was jet fuel (I didn't know how much), and to repair a part of the plane. Then it should be ready for the voyage.

Meanwhile, Nelly approached me flirtatiously. I wasn't interested, though. In real life, I've never been married, but in the dream I was a widower and was still very much hung up on my late wife. Nelly left and I thought nothing of it.

I realized that the amount of jet fuel I needed was quite substantial, and it would take weeks for it to arrive. I wasn't going to fly out of Monterey.

Then I caught Nelly and Natasha driving by, and they threw some trash out their window.

I picked up the trash, and to my horror, it was some parking permits from my car. I realized that they must have been inside my car, and when I returned to where my car was parked, I saw that my car had been completely burnt to the ground.

Great. No way out of Monterey unless I repair the plane.

Then Nelly approached me again and threatened me, saying I was to have sex with her or she would make my life hell. She didn't specify what she would do, but I knew from her previous actions that this woman was a criminal, capable of doing anything. I nonetheless refused. She persisted, saying that there was no way I was getting out of there, and there was no way I could avoid her; she claimed it would take over a ton of jet fuel for my plane to leave, which I wouldn't be able to get a hold of, so I better succumb to her wishes or else. I still told her "no." She said "Why?" And I said loud enough for everybody to hear it "Because that would be RAPE!"

I didn't realize that a man saying that out of context doesn't exactly sound good, so the town looked at me as though I were crazy. They hadn't heard the rest of the conversation and had no idea why I would yell that one sentence.

The people chanted: "The bomb will break the leg, the bomb will break the leg. First it broke the window, now the bomb will break the leg..."

Nelly walked off; it almost seemed as though this was what she wanted to happen all along as the town started to question my sanity.

I approached a scientist and a friend I knew from college, asking her to calculate how much jet fuel I needed. She did the math and told me it was actually two tons of jet fuel. I said "Okay, that's about what I heard before." Turns out Nelly wasn't lying when she said I'd need over a ton of jet fuel.

I left and later on, started doing the math myself. I recalled a concept that I had previously learned about jet fuel, that it always takes more fuel than you would otherwise need because the plane not only has to lift its own weight plus the weight of the passengers, but it also needs to lift the weight of the fuel. The problem is that if you add a ton of fuel, then you have to add even more fuel just to carry the ton of fuel you just put in the plane. And then you need to add more fuel to account for the added fuel. And so forth. Fortunately, there's a formula that you can use to calculate this out, and I started doing the math as best I could, even though I didn't fully understand the formula.

I did the math and came to the answer that I only needed 30 gallons of fuel. That can't be right. That's not anywhere near two tons. Fortunately, another woman noticed my math and asked "You're not too familiar with the x formula, are you?" (I forget what she said the name of the formula was). She then helped me out and showed me where I got my math wrong.

As we were calculating this out, a note fell on to our table (from where, I'm not sure). Written on it was just one word: "STOP."

I ran off. I needed to get out of this town somehow.

Somehow I ended up in a NASA museum underground that required climbing down two ladders to get to. After the first ladder was a donation box; the sign read: "Suggested donation: $2." I didn't have time for this and climbed down the second ladder into the main lobby, where Graeme met me. He wanted to see this exhibit for sometime, so I joined him. He wrote a check for $400 to the museum (well above the $2 suggested donation). Boy did I feel cheap for leaving nothing.

After reading posters and seeing exhibits about space travel, we exited the museum and separated. I found my way back to the main part of town.

Then Nelly and Natasha approached, and Nelly slapped me in front of the large crowd of people before storming off. Natasha looked at me with ire right in the eye: "You're married to ANOTHER woman!?" She explained to the crowd that Nelly was my wife, and she thought I was a faithful man and a loving husband, but in reality I was living a double-life, married to two different women without either of them knowing about the other. She explained that she and Nelly had found receipts that proved my double-life. She showed the receipts to the crowd.

I looked at them, and pulled them from her hand in astonishment. "Are you KIDDING me!?" I exclaimed. "These were stolen from my car!" I turned and faced the crowd. "THEY broke into my car, destroyed it, and then stole these receipts. Look, you can even tell that these receipts have been sitting in my windshield because they're faded from the sunlight."

Natasha just looked at me and said: "You pig" before walking off.

The crowd mumbled in astonishment; they couldn't believe I'd make up such a silly story about the destruction of my car in order to cover up my infidelity. They also were aghast by how I treated my "wife"--well, actually, both of my "wives."

They said that it's okay, though, he'll get what he deserves. Then they chanted: "The bomb will break the leg, the bomb will break the leg. First it broke the window, now the bomb will break the leg."

I asked "What does that mean? The bomb will break the leg?"

They told me a story from their folklore about a boy breaking another man's window with what he thought was a rock. In reality, though, it was a bomb, and after breaking the window, it exploded, also breaking the boy's leg.

Turns out their chant was about karma, and how people who wrong others, will be wronged themselves.

I needed to get out of this town somehow, but instead of finding a way out, I ended up in a water park comprised entirely of a series of waterways. There were plenty of people floating through the water and having a ton of fun.

Nelly saw me entered and immediately approached with a sly smile on her face.

I had a plastic bag in my hand with soft objects (like pillows and stuffed animals) in it, and out of exasperation, I started slapping her with the bag, telling her to "GO AWAY." I didn't want to cause pain, and the bag wouldn't hurt her anymore than a pillow fight would, but I wanted her away from me and so I caused some annoyance.

Many people witnessed this scene, and Nelly walked off smiling.

I found my way into the locker room where people were changing in and out of their swim gear for the water park. I got lost in a maze of endless lockers, but eventually found my way out. I had no idea where in the park I was, though.

Then I caught Nelly and Natasha talking just loud enough for everyone to hear them. Nelly was putting on quite a show, pretending that she was having difficulty hearing what Natasha was saying. Natasha asked how her hearing was improving after seeing the doctor. Nelly said it was getting better.

Natasha said "You know, you really should leave him."

"No, no. He loves me."

"But he nearly made you go deaf."

"Oh, he's just passionate, and he wouldn't hit me if he didn't love me."

The large crowd of water park-goers heard it all. Not only that, but they had seen just a moment ago, me behaving "violently" toward Nelly as I hit her with my plastic bag. That it was a plastic bag that couldn't possibly hurt her was beside the point; all they saw was how I thrashed her with it.

To the town, I'm now not only crazy and unfaithful, but also physically abusive.

"The bomb will break the leg, the bomb will break the leg. First it broke the window, now the bomb will break the leg."

These women are ruining my life, and I don't even know either one of them!

I ran. Eventually I found Graeme, and told him we needed to get out of here. I'd explain along the way.

But we were still lost in this water park. I asked if he knew the way out. He didn't.

So, I just jumped in one of the waterways. Graeme followed.

There were various forks in the waterways, but the current was running so strong that I could only go the direction the water pushed me at each of the forks. Graeme fell a bit behind as I was forced through the currents, but I hoped we'd end up in the same place.

And I furthermore hoped that we were being pushed in the direction of the exit, but I had no idea where the exit was, or where we were being pushed.

That's when I woke up.
