short Bear/beast dream! Scary. help me interpret this

in my dream, I'm at my mothers house. its a nice sunny summer day, until one of us sees a small animal outside which we first think of being a wild boar, but it was a bear pup instead. Immediately I panic because I know the mother bear is somewhere close and we barricade inside the house which is suddenly in poor condition. The walls near doorways are "badly aligned" so I can see trough wide door cracks even though door is shut and the door won't stay closed by itself. I have to try to keep the door shut myself. I see the bear eating one of our dogs outside and becoming chubby... The dog also ate some of the bear and also became chubby (I'm sure there's some weird explanation to this). Both the dog and the bear became vital and chubby by eating some of each other. Then the bear was walking away, but smelled us/me inside the house and turned back. I went to warn the others and retreated from the vestibule, to living room, but as I turned to look back towards the vestibule, the bear was standing right next to me with red eyes, it was angry and it was skinned alive but living. It was more like a beast than a bear now. I used a white pillow as a "shield" to repel its slash as it was attacking me, the pillow tore into shreds and I woke up.

Please help me interpret this thing. At least some of it. Bears have always been more like beasts to me in dreams than a bear... Real life bears are cute and cuddly but dream bears are always aggressive satanic monsters to me. :panic: (I havent seen a nightmare about this beast for a long time) :o

Is there stress in your mom's house? Do you avoid going there?

Well, that depends entirely on how the dreamer feels about it, both at the time and after the fact. The difference between nightmare and cool dream is all in one's own perception of it: did is scare and terrify or did it fascinate and amuse? Also one person's nightmares would not scare or horrify another person and therefore would not be nightmares to them. I found that the more I got into lucid dreaming the fewer nightmares were nightmares to me - I started looking forward to dreams which I would have considered nightmares before, because they no longer scared me but interested me instead, and because I could take control and make them empowering experiences.

As for the bear dream: I think it is significant that in real life you are not scared of bears, so the bears are definitely not meant to be bears if they are scary to you in this nightmare. They must stand in for something else. What that something else is however, I do not know. What are you scared or concerned about in real life? What do you currently fear is threatening your home and family? The part about eating off eachother and becoming stronger is interesting. Is there anything that you can think of for you that becomes stronger as it is gnawed on? Fear itself? Concern? Is there any issue that you feel you are not making any progress on and that appears to be getting worse even as you try to resolve it? Think of who all from your family was threatened by the beast in your dream, and who was threatened the most, and then look in your waking life for what threatens those family members right now in your perception, your concern over them?

Hmmm not sure if it's just a coincidence of being my mothers home, because I just spent my day there the day before and that coul have affected it. Yet the bear seems to represent some motherly symbology as well... Everyone else sort of disappeared during the bear-period and I was the one being targeted and attacked.

I think the house symbolizes me in a way (my home has changed so many times during my life so that I don't really have "my very own home" [I live on rent at the moment]). The house is in poor condition and the doors wont stay shut and keep the danger out, even though i struggle. Still the beast gets in and surprises me.

Maybe I'm letting something in (some negative emotion/feeling/thought perhaps?) which will end up hurting me in return?
