Dream translation for a new member please!

Hey guys! I'm new here, but really excited to participate

So... I had a really odd, semi detailed dream last night, so if anyone wants to take a crack at interpreting it, this could be fun!

Ok, here goes:

At first I'm with the guy I like and we're separated by some sort of storm, he decides to swim through the cave but I don't. Later, we meet up and take a cab/buggy back to his house. He texts me in the cab with something like "the hummingbird is strong" but I confront him about not talking to each other with the little time we have. I later drive him to the store and I hear somehow that my grandma was asking if he was my boyfriend. Then we end up going to his mom's house where I look around and we hug each other but it gets kind of sexual--at least now we are together. Later we got to his dad's house which has dragons spewing fire painted all over the kitchen. There I meet his little sister (he doesn't actually have one) and she likes me. I look at myself in the mirror and I'm in a beautiful purple princess dress, admiring myself.

Just to give some background, I'm currently studying abroad in Panama and I was just in a coral reef course in which we snorkeled every day. When I left, I kind of left someone at school that I cared about (guy in my dream). It's been complicated. I'm now preparing to return to school where I'll immediately be greeted by formals and of course my friends and other people I care about. I'm a biology major, so we're constantly observing nature.

In your dream you and your guy were separated, just like in real life. I think part of you worries about how the reunion will go. The fact that in the dream he has a sister but not in real life could be your worrying that there may be another woman in his life, but you don't want there to be another woman so your mind makes her safe, like a sister so not really competition for you after all. If he had a woman in his life who was safe like a sister or other female relative or friend, you would want to impress her, would want her to like you. You want to be pretty and appealing for him and for yourself like a princess. It's your self image of yourself reassuring yourself that you are attractive. As always if any of this does not sound right to you, please disregard.

Hi Joanna! Thanks so much for the reply! I was just picking it apart with my friend and I agree with your interpretation. I really like what you had to say about the sister, that's something I couldn't figure out but it definitely fits. With the symbols of the hummingbird and dragons I was kind of lost because those seem completely random to me, given that I didn't have any contact with them yesterday. I know symbolism depends on the individual but still, it was suspicious that they'd be so vivid. Anyway, I'm really impressed with your interpretation, hopefully with more practice I'll get your skills

A hummingbird has to move a lot in order to stay in the same place. Maybe this is about how despite a lot of change things stayed the same? The hummingbird is very strong for such a small bird: it can accomplish a lot despite being small. Is the hummingbird a symbol for you or your relationship maybe?

Dragons spew fire, which makes them dangerous. Dragons in stories eat young maidens. Could be that you are worried, not feeling safe? It is his dad's house where the dragons are. Maybe you are nervous about how your family will perceive you?

But Chinese have a very different relationship to dragons than Western mythology. So if these were Chinese dragons it's different.

The funny thing is that he's very much into China but they were more like medieval dragons, and the maiden idea is a possibility. Sometimes I feel like I'm just a moth to the flame with him, like I can't resist? Maybe the dragons symbolize the fear I have of his effect over me or possibly just him... Quite literally me being the maiden (princess?).

Combining my thoughts and yours on the hummingbird, maybe it's that I feel like I/we have to work so hard to stay in the same place with the relationship but the fact that he says it's strong is encouraging, kind of like it'll pull through or stick with it. I also read that hummingbirds represent flighty thoughts or frivolous ideas, also the inability to commit, referring to him. Who knows?

There have been a LOT of emotions involved with this situation, yet very little commitment due to my going abroad, so I think I'm pretty anxious, and fearful of deception/disillusionment. It's crazy how your subconsciousness takes these feelings and weaves a stories like these. Thanks again!
