      Demonic dreams

I've had this reoccurring dream for quite some time and I've wanted to get to the bottom of what it truly means. In the dream that I had last night, I was in my old apartment in Boston and I walked up to my room because my mom, friend and I heard a musical carousel playing, something which was strange since we thought there to be no one upstairs. So we go up to see someone (I'm not sure who) in my bed being possessed by a demon. She was floating and then being thrown down and the entity was under the covers the entire time and I couldn't see it. I've had the same dream in different forms a few times over the past year or so. Any opinions?

The interpretation of this dream will be different depending on whether or not you believe in demons in real life. If you believe demons to not be real then this kind of dream is a metaphor. We say someone is possessed when what they are doing does not make sense to us in a negative way, personified evil, but also absolving person of responsibility if their actions (blaming demons instead). The person being upstairs where no one is supposed to be and being possessed, this could mean being worried that upstairs in one's own brain there is another entity that is not supposed to be there that is responsible for making us crazy and do things we wish we didn't do and don't know why we do them to begin with or how to stop, can't help it. It could be that you are not actually concerned about being possessed or actually crazy but that you just feel out of control and unable to change for the better.

Of course, this is only one possible idea, and if it does not sound right, please discard it.

Dreams keep reoccurring until we understand the message. Being in "my old apt in Boston" means at times your state of mind reverts to the past and your way of living and reacting to present life is being influenced by the way you were during the time you lived there. Being with "your mom and your friend" suggests in the dream you are with your Spirit Guide and your Higher Self. Upstairs is the Higher Mind, Higher Consciousness and you "can hear the music" meaning you can hear the harmony of living with and in the Higher Mind. Going upstairs you see someone in your bed who is possessed by a Demon. The Bed represents your intimate relationships as well as your dreamlife. Can be both or either one. Being possessed by a Demon, could say that you are attracting negative energies to yourself or have attracted negative people. There can be a Spirit or Being who is hanging around that needs to be sent away simply by living and surrounding yourself with Light and a Light filled life. The Entity "being under covers" could be that there is an actual person in your life who is quite negative (under-cover) but disquises themselves as a good person when in reality they are malicious. Think about anyone in your life you might need to distance yourself from. Could be someone who literally drains you, takes your energy etc. Otherwise.....smudge your house, clean your rooms, fill the rooms with light...light candles, bring in flowers, get rid of all junk and clutter, and freshen everything. And say prayers of protection at bedtime.

Although it would usually be best to have general background information about you in order to provide an accurate interpretation, it’s at least safe to say that your wanting to get to the bottom of this upsetting reoccurring dream is a good attitude to take because, as noted in another post, dreams continue to repeat themselves because of an important underlying issue which should be resolved in some reasonable way as soon as possible.

You could try seeing what spontaneous memories, thoughts and feelings come to mind when you focus on the image of your old apartment in Boston as it looked in the dream.

Perhaps a clue will appear which hints, for example, at a habitual attitude and way of acting that still is currently present and which maybe started when you lived in the apartment. You can also apply this technique to other images and events in the dream.

Going up the stairs to a higher level suggests the need to become more conscious of something which you are apparently too unconscious of.

This is also hinted at by the fact that you go to a bedroom, i.e. where one sleeps and is therefore “unconscious”, as well as the idea of “not knowing” anyone else was upstairs.

You don’t mention if the friend was a female, but if so, then the presence of your mother, another female, the music from the carousel and the demonically possessed girl suggest the feeling side of life may be the main issue being dealt with by this repeating dream as opposed to there being a problem with the thinking and intellectual side per se.

That is, something may be out of balance between the thinking and feeling poles within your psyche because the intellectual side is “demonizing” and “controlling” the feeling side too much for some unknown reason.

Once more, the idea is presented that a central cause of the repeating dream is mostly unconscious (the demon is under the blanket).

This approach to the series of dreams could apply whether you are a female or a male, but perhaps more so if you are a male.

If any such damaging attitude towards the emotional and values side of life exists, it might have started a year or so ago when the dreams began, maybe caused by the beginning of a kind of non-stop carousel-like cycle of “round and round” fast-paced activities related to work etc.

If this is the case, the presence of a “demon” in the dreams probably shows that a dangerous “non-human” impulse has tended to take over and a “humanizing” approach of your current life is the only way to help improve the situation.

However as mentioned, without knowing anything about you, this approach to your dreams may not fit your personal circumstances very well, but I hope these ideas can be helpful in some way.

It can not be said too many times; reoccurring dreams and nightmares are the minds way of saying "WAKE UP AND LISTEN".
Both of the interpretations here are excelent. I also agree that not having any actual knowledge of you as a person makes any other interpretation difficult at best.
Dreaming about somewhere you use to live / dreaming of the past; unresolved issues from that time in your life.
I will skip the people in the dream other than the demoically possessed girl in your bed: this image suggests to me that you have someone whom, you think you know, that you consider very close to you that is showing signs that you really do not know them at all (demonically possessed = not acting entirely the way they use to). This person may be someone you have gotten close to recently and now they are doing things you think are out of character, in all reality it is more likely that the phase of being on their "best behavior" is at its end (no one can keep up their best behavior for long periods of time). It may be time to face the "music" of the merry-go-round (carousel) and turn this person loose, they are not who they appeared to be which means they have been deceiving you.

      Just my humble guess.
