GOING UNDER YOUR SURFACE
It looks like maybe you needed to experiment, experience, to learn in the outside world, which maybe was a resource or treasure you abandoned or felt abandoned in.
Maybe four areas of you would benefit with this reward, or four is a stable number like a table, or an ideal number for a team.
The third level down can be how deep you went, beneath your surface self.
It was more hidden, than a resource, so this may have given way to your nest of fears. Do you fear the outside world? (Who doesn't.) But maybe in some specific way. These fears were maybe over half as tall as you, or nearly as big.
The smaller would just hurt you, the bigger ones whose vivid colour I imagine might mean negative - like red for danger, purple for off, yellow for sickly, green for even sicker (maybe not blue or orange??) - and enlarged ability to spin a web of fear to trap you I would have said, but you said this allowed them to effectively burn you or eat away at you, which might amount to the same thing. Or the vivid colors could simply mean how vivid your fears are.
You'd handle it, wanting other parts of you to follow.
You'd use stealth, divert, and attack. Just like fear does.
But your team left you, maybe because you told your team that you’d handle this, that you could do it alone. Or it may have scared you.
Or perhaps this dream is about you learning to work in a team or with others.
You sought another way out.
(How you can recall this dream in such detail amazes me.)
DIVERT FEAR
You tried to divert fear, but you can't. Like an evil God, it knows before you do what you will do, and will attack.
So your fears formed a block in your way. You could no longer lift yourself out of here, being abandoned by your inner help you wished was there to do battle.
As the uglies closed in, you saw a piece of security you could hop on, and jump past. You took the risk, your only option.
ROCK AND RUN
Timing your sprint against fear, it spat out its venom you avoided by dodging the right way.
You hopped in the safe or secure place, avoiding your smaller fears, and jumped passed your fears from first entering here, and so on the second level, perhaps fear is less and further away because you had already gone through it.
And when you reached your second level, in some relief and spare time, you destroyed any budding new fear clusters before they could hatch, which pissed off the mother of all fears, doubling its speed. Because when you go to destroy fear, it will fight back as if it is alive.
You drop that idea and exit.
Interesting you used a 2x4 to bash the eggs, and might reflect the substitute for 2 teams.
But a spider has teams of legs - the fearful formation of 2 sets of 4. But that the spider reflects your teams scarily leaving you is probably weaving a web that doesn't exist, and rather the 2x4 may be a creepy clevery reflection of the spidery fear you battled alone.
SEARCHING FOR RESOURCES
You dug to cave in that hole where that fear came from and officially sealed it off.
Outside of this, now it seems you got some relief from your win, though dark. But you created a nice movement, you were comfortable, and you could see perhaps the little lights or hope in the distance you gazed at.
You tried a direction, as we all are often blind in new areas, and stumbled upon the thought of your load being carried, but you could not this late.
So you thought you needed tools to deal with your situation. But in your possible aggression, or too much force, you perhaps had to add humour to make it acceptable. You didn't want to ask yourself why you picked this violent method. But it passed payment in yourself when you cleverly used off the wall humour as your currency. But like most humour, it tells the truth often more honestly than anywhere, except dreams that are always constantly funny, haha, that maybe you wanted to kill yourself for abandoning you in need, for letting you down.
So maybe that was all the ax was for. You had an ax to grind with yourself! But I suspect a bit of both, or really to ax your fears, and humourously to ax you, though not really.
BACK INTO THE FOREST
So you continued your adventure, going into the wild growth of your nature toward your inner resources to kill your fears. And maybe the as-useless parts of you; you hadn't decided yet. (They are already separated, dismembered from you.)
Getting close, you realize something elevated in you was hovering above you - perhaps your hope for rescue.
THE FANTASTIC FLYING MONSTER TRUCKOPTER
It was an erratic thought, but after focusing and adjusting, you finally saw it was a part of you that could go on any terrain and be bigger than, and run over, anything else it battles. Not only that, it could fly above it all anyway! But maybe that is why it was flying.
You said to yourself, “Oh shit, that is freaking awesome!” It was better than a rescue. It was your bigger ability rescuing you, maybe that you didn't know you had but need created.
The zebra pattern might mean a camaflague that might make it stealthier than fear, able to deal with the wild, or being fast and agile. It was doing aerial acrobatics. It seems it's fantastic spectacular control made it seem out of control. But monster trucks are like that, almost defying physics for their out-of-proportion super bouncy make-up. But a flying one adds much more. Quite a vision. (Too bad they aren't real and do battle shows too.)
Much better than the truck you thought before you couldn't use.
CHEERING
So you cheered inside, hearing the announcment this important newcomer promoted as it was landing near you.
You walked out of the woods, and were in the clear in what this thing was showing, which awed you. (Was this a movie?)
So obviously this vision was spurred by when younger you would see monster truck power and ability.
And your father you saw them with and who started this dream, was now nearby. He possibly represents the part in you that wants to grow up and be as capable as him. You were disppointed this side of you didn't let you know you could have a monster ability, to run over your monster fears, and which flies as high as they are low.
But you didn't expect this part of you to be, and your more grown side managed to sneak in when you believed you could be in control of this event.
So you watched the rest of what your new vehicle could do until the show ended.
GOING HOME
You left that part of you to go back to your normal self, where a hill was in the way of. So you had to gain more momentum to get over it, but your knowing father side went too fast, and you knew it, but you trusted it. Perhaps you were not used to it, so didn't have full control.
You bypassed the hill you needed to go over, which is probably what went before in the dream, passed the road you should be on, beyond the growth it could give, and you crashed in nowhere.
Interesting your father drove a truck, that slightly flew, so you seemed to retain, or wanted to repeat, the past abilities you saw in the Super Flying Truck which you never took on and that now maybe you lost, crashed what was left, and ended up nowhere.
Only the back of your growing driving ability was ok. And both sides of you thought how your - perhaps more controlled mom side of you - would react.
CONCLUSIONS
It seems you went off course after seeing the super ability you could have to conquer your fears, which maybe were the common ones that come with learning to be yourself and growing up in the real world. Maybe being alone in the world, wanting others to help you.
Or perhaps seeing that ability was enough to make your fears non-existent.
But on the way home in you there was a goal you overshot, perhaps because of overconfidence as a result, or you simply forgot about your task!
Does any of this fit?
