      Bizarre dream - mystical symbols?

I had a very bizarre dream last Thursday night. My partner, Mike, woke up in the middle of the night, rousing me around 3am, and this dream occurred after I went back to sleep.

I was standing in front of the bedroom window with Mike. I was looking at the full moon. While I was staring at it the moon suddenly moved across the sky quite fast - from low on the horizon directly in front of me to approximately 45 degrees to the right, and higher up in the sky. (Note - at this point a thought occurred to me that my staring at the moon caused it to move across the sky, but this thought quickly faded)

The moon moving struck me as a strange occurence, my heart almost leapt into my mouth. It seemed like earth's gravity had been affected. The ground felt wobbly. People on the streets were almost floating as if there was a lack of gravity. I thought that perhaps the earth's magnetic poles had shifted, affecting the gravity field.

A bright light/cloud appeared in the sky, twisting and turning near the moon. It eventually resolved into a strange image. A beautiful woman on the left, to look at her made me feel peaceful, but also incredibly sad. A man on the right, almost skeletel, dressed in a kind of battle suit and helmet. He was flinging knives from his right hand towards the earth - hundreds of them at a time. I felt afraid to look at him. Behind them was an ancient-looking tree with dark green foliage. Behind that I think there was a temple. Behind that, swirling green/shining cloud, a circular formation behind the image.

Mike stepped forward (in that strange dream way we were no longer standing in front of a window....we either had ventured outside to get a better look or the dream just skipped as they do), and I saw knives raining down from the sky towards him. I leaned forward, grabbed him, and pulled him back in. It felt like the end of the world. The dream continued from here...I don't remember the image in the sky disappearing, I think we were hiding for a bit, or the dream conveniently skipped ahead as they do - a lot of people had disappeared, there were a few left...

When I woke up and thought about it, it was almost as if judgement day had passed in the dream. I couldn't decide whether it was that the evil people had been destroyed, leaving the good to inherit the earth, or if it was a christian style rapture.

Anyway, I've never had a dream like this - so full of symbolism, it was almost as if god appeared to me...but I'm not an incredibly religious person, don't go to church or study the topic other than what I stumble across online, so I dismiss that idea straight away (I guess that means I'm not a megalomaniac!). The two names that came to mind immediately after the dream are Shakti and Shiva, but maybe just because Shiva is also known as The Destroyer.

Anyone able to shed some light on this one?

      Wow.

That's an extremely interesting dream...You are right about the symbolism. The two things that really stand out to me as things that could have a meaning would be the woman and the knives. The knives seemed as though they were the method of destruction, which is strange to me, but meaningful in a way. Assuming this really was a symbol for something, knives are man-made, perhaps the world is destroyed by man's hand? As for the tree, and the temple, I can only assume it is where the man and woman reside. Possibly representing a god and goddess, or something different entirely. Depends on what you believe in religiously. The dream has a very Greek-ish feel to it, mythology wise. Any relation to greek gods from the description of those two? I'd say Mars (God of War) but from what I know, he is of muscular stature, not skinny as you say you saw him. But then again, it is a dream, so it could be Mars nonetheless.

Yeh, I had a very strong feeling in the dream when the images appeared in the sky that I was looking at the gods, but I'm definitely open to interpretations outside of dreamland!

I believe all religions essentially stemmed from the same place, although I'm not sure whether I believe in one god, or many...I tend to pray to the universe as a whole when asking for help or acknowledging help that has been received.

I felt that the tree in the image was the tree of life....just there to back up the whole symbolic nature of seeing gods in the sky as a kind of end of days. I had the feeling that the woman was there to reassure people - that it was something meant to happen or was necessary, which is probably why I also felt sad, and that the man flinging the knives was there to do the destruction. It felt like there was some anger behind the destruction...not at everybody, but at the people who had necessitated it.

The temple behind the dream is only an impression...I didn't actually see a full blown temple as such, but got the impression that there was more than just a tree in the background...it was like a tree in a clearing almost, with the feeling that there were many trees around it...that it was a special place.

This dream was definitely out of the norm for me....although I've had whacky dreams all my life...and was incredibly vivid throughout, and upon awakening for several hours afterwards.

I really like the interpretation that knives are man made and could indicate the destruction of the world at the hands of men....of mens actions nececessitating the end of the world (as we know it anyway)...it's the wheel of time. But then the anti-megalomaniac steps in and asks "now why would I be special enough to have a dream fortelling the world's destruction?")

First before I go on into this dream I must tell you what I see, and it maybe offensive in nature. I do not wish to offend anyone in any way. But I feel I must speak truthfully. You are in a place of intimacy, (Bedroom Window.)

Hoping for someone to notice your struggles.
You are having some real hard times with your core beliefs, and with the way you are living (The Full Moon.)

To many things in your life are changing faster than you can keep up with, you feel as though the world is coming out from under you (People Floating.) You core beliefs are changing, you feel as though your roll has changed (The Earth Shifting.) You are draw to the female persona’ (The Beautiful Woman / Feeling Peaceful.)

You are uneasy with the Male persona’ (The Skeletal Dressed Man.) This man is hurting you with his relationship (Flung Knifes w/right Hand.) You have a unexplained attraction to seek God, you are afraid you will be rejected if you don’t find the answers (People Disappearing.)

I'd very much like to offer an interpretation of this, but because of the imagery, whatever I say will probably have some serious religious overtones. I'm not the kind of person to push religion or religious imagery onto anyone or plaster it everywhere to get in people's way, thus I won't post my interpretation here.

If you're still at all interested in what I have to say, please feel free to send me a PM. It won't hurt my feelings if you don't, though, so don't feel like you have to, ok?

This is a very intense and interesting dream either way. Thank you for sharing it with us.

      Hi
My interpretation is not so dramatic. I have used a dictionary to interpret the symbols and this is what I think. Daggers or knives can mean so many things but often it is not what they seem. You may hear news from abroad, positive news (unless you or Mike were carrying a knife). Or good overcoming evil if you see someone stabbed. The skeleton figure may have to do with the news from abroad, it may be a legacy, a change, a new responsibility. The moon is quite significant because you saw the man and the lady in the moon. More or less is can magnify the success/change that is coming your way or cause a change in your relationship with Mike. The tree and floating are positive symbols for success, new friendships and relationships.

Only you know what is happening in your life right now.

I'm not very sure about the symbology of the moon, but i have an idea as to what the man and woman stand for. I believe they both played mutual roles in the whole scene, that is, they had to do very much with eachother. You said that you felt peaceful, but very sad when you saw her, and fearful with the skeletal man. I'm guessing that this has to do with the world today....... People feel at peace within themselves, they feel safe, or free of any harm regardless of whats going on in the world (generally). But they also feel deeper down thats something isnt right, perhaps there's a big flaw or danger to their careless thoughts, and thus results their doom. I think the female woman, the way she made you feel inside could have been the equivalent of media brainwash today, and the destructive skeleton could have shown the true nature behind many feelings of false safety... that because of the peoples' ignorrance, they were blind to the iminent failure of their world by their own hands (the knives).

I hope that makes sense, and i hope i helped.

And oh yes, just to clear this up, the earth's magnetic poles have nothing to do with gravity

      Dear Rustawookie,

There is an interesting Site I found: "My Brief Experience in Eternity And What I Saw" by Phil Kramer, which can be found at http://www.aculink.net/~catholic/africa.htm. In Phil Kramer's vision, he sees Judgment Day. Christ is seen as an almost inexorable Judge on one side, willing to take only the most absolutely Righteous Souls to Heaven (Christ apparently was never converted to Paulism where we are made to understand that Christ would forgive us our sins because we were so quick to torture and murder Him). Within this Vision of Christ as Severe Judge, we have the appearance of the Blessed Virgin as the One who would appeal for Mercy and some Mitigation.

There have been several generations of Catholic Seers to various Apparitions of the Blessed Virgin, from Fatima, to Garabandal Spain, to Medjugorje Hersegovina, and there seems to be a consistent agreement that for most people in the World, the End will be terrible, and that for only a few, will the End be agreeable.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing about half the people wiped out. What of the people who vote for Conservatives -- for domestic greed, for imperialistic exploitation, for foreign aggression. What would such people do in Heaven but turn it into an effective Hell? We need to remember that in Heaven we will have Free Will -- that God will not be constantly enforcing a set of rules. So, this would require that people who enter into Heaven would be worthy of it, and that they could be trusted not to turn it into the same hell that Evil had imposed upon the Earth. Allow Evil into Heaven and soon we would have Rich deciding upon property and slavery, Haves and Have-nots, all the same Pillaging by Duress that has become universal in the world. Heaven will not be Heaven unless the Righteousn can be isolated from those who would insist as they always have in victimizing them. The Predators and Barbarians must be stopped and turned around at the gates of Heaven. I would not insist upon a Hell. Indeed, a designed and intentional Hell would be redundant. If these Evil Souls are left to themselves, they would be able to come up with a bleak enough hell on their own. As these Demonic Souls compete and war with each other for ultimate control, the pains and punishments they heap upon themselves would certainly be adequate to answer for any demands of Justice echoing from their earthly careers in evil.

Gah. That really freaks me out...that whole absolution theory. For my own sake I honestly hope that we get cut some slack. I mean...I try to try my hardest, if that makes any sense.
