Dreaming of acting
Hiya all! :D
I recently (meaning a week ago) dreamt something that got me thinking quite a bit:
-
Basically, it started with me being hired to play the role of a villain in a horror film (more precisely a killer à la Jason Voorhees). Gleefully I accepted the role and made my way to the set: it was located at the end of a snowy trail up a hill, inside a structure (resembling somewhat a shrine you'd expect to find in the Far East).
To my shock and surprise, I stumbled upon a former friend of mine at the set, who played the main character. I wasn't exactly disgusted, although a bit of history might be necessary to clarify - I've dated her last year and due to "differences" we ended up torn apart (yes, we tried having a friendship until weeks before the dream, where she made it clear I was to stay away from her). As it was to be expected, she was not exactly pleased to have me in the set, but just stuck around, trying to set aside personal things.
Something curious about that scene was me trying to try on a helmet/stage prop resembling a fishbowl. The one I had barely fit my head so I just "took" my former friend's bowl and put it on my head, making it fit perfectly. She didn't do much but stare and sigh.
Later on the way out I tried to talk to her about the recent events, but she refused to listen as she walked down the snowy path. I walked alongside her and we argued constantly about just why things failed as we did the last months of our relationship. The argument ended with her telling me we will see each other soon enough. I just stared at her walking back home, conveniently in the snowy area downhill (NOTE - the sky was yellowish, a sunset scene).
It was clear I would see her again, but a part of me was worried about "accepting" an acting role, just in case the hypothetical film bombed/was a critical failure.

Typical ex-gf dream, but the whole me being an actor playing a horror movie villain and her the lead was rather curious...

Could it be that you blame yourself for acting the villain in your relationship? Do you think it was your fault and do you think that you maybe did not act like yourself when with her?
-
Hmmm... sounds like a typical dream to me. Most of the time I find the settings in dreams to be random, but how people and objects interact with us to be based on how we think they should, would, or have treated us. So when I go into how a DC of someone I know reacts, I ask if it was because of something that they have done, or something that I think they would have done (by fear or worry).
The scene doesn't ever really bare significance in my mind. I have dreams that I am out in space, underwater, a firefighter, a policeman, myself, a businessman, etc. They just seem to be random a lot of the time.
curiosity, do you like horror films?
