      Air travel or family?

      Hello,

I recently had a dream where I was flying in a small aeroplane. My father was piloting the aircraft, which is not unusual as he is a pilot. I have not travelled in a plane with my father for many years. Sitting in the back seat is my half-brother. My brother and I have the same mother, so the man flying the plane is my father, not my brother's. No words are spoken by any of us.

During the flight it became apparent there was a problem, not sure if it was the aircraft or the weather conditions. The journey was extremely turbulent. My father felt the need to land the plane urgently. This required him to land the plane on ice, which he did without incident. Landing on ice would very extremely unlikely, in my part of the world.

The dream started mid flight and ended at the safe ice landing.

I really don't have any feelings around this dream, which is unusual. Would love to hear any thoughts on what this could mean or represent.

      Many thanks

Well, while I am not sure about this interpretation, but here are a few ideas:

Whenever I have had dreams about transportation, I tend to interpret those as my life's journey, how things are moving along, the path that I am on. Of course that is just one possible way of interpreting it. If we look at it this way though, your family being with you may be an indication that you are at a stage in your life where perhaps you need your family by your side or at least appreciate having them with you.

Your father is in control in this dream. That could mean that you do not feel in control in this stage of your life journey. Or it could mean that the part of you that is most like your father is taking control of your mind, that you are solving issues the way your father would perhaps?

The turbulence could be that you perceive that there is some kind of trouble / issue in your life, or you anticipate or worry that there will or may be an issue. Perhaps since your family is in this dream it is a family issue, or maybe it is unrelated to your family but you approach this issue as your family members would or you approach it with keeping your family in your mind?

The landing on ice is unusual. So maybe the resolution to the issue is unusual/unexpected. But it all goes well, it is a safe landing (a good resolution to the issue), you think.

However, ice after turbulence also makes me think of after a fight how sometimes people grow cold toward oneanother, so if the turbulence were to represent a family fight, the ice landing could represent cold relations between family members. So if this were the case, then the safe landing may not be necessarily positive enough. However, if there is no family fight going one, then please disregard this possible interpretation.

In general, feel free to disregard any of my ideas that do not sound right to you. I do believe you yourself are your own best dream interpreter, however I hope that my ideas can help you in some way in this endeavor.

Thank you for your response. Your thoughts about a difficult journey makes sense, that's where I am right now with work/career choices.

I don't have any issues with my father, so still unclear what his and my brother's presence represent. I do feel some comfort in the fact that the journey ends well.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

What about your father and brother being there because they represent parts of you that are like them in some way? Or them being there for comfort: it is often easier to overcome difficulties when one takes comfort in the love of one's family, that their thoughts are with you in these difficulties, and you are with them in your thoughts. Could that be it?

Also if you are in the middle of career choices, perhaps the thought of your father comes to mind because of what he represents in his role as a role model to you, as a man who has his chosen career. Is your father happy in his career? If so, perhaps this is why you were thinking of him as you make career choice because you think of him as an example of someone happy in career choice? What about your brother and his career choice? Is there something significant there that could help you figure out why he was in this dream?

More interesting thoughts. I am close to them and they have both featured in recent events and thoughts. My father has always been a role model to me, in all areas. I'm always wanting to make him proud, no matter how old I get!

Many thanks to you, once again.
