Another Dream About Death (Mom)

Hi everyone.

It's coming up on our one-year anniversary since my dad was killed. (10/17/2012) - he was killed by police in our house, shot to death for no reason on a mistake by the department. He was innocent. Now, I've had many dreams about him since then. However, now I have something a little different.

Myself and my mom never did get along. But when my dad was still alive, he made me promise to stay by her and take care of her if anything ever happened to him. Since his death, she has been incarcerated and is in a prison currently doing time. Anyways, since then, our relationship has gotten better and we write eachother and everything. October 17th will be one year since my dad was killed, and I've had many dreams about him since. But last night, I had the following dream, and it's been bothering me all day:

In this dream, I just remember looking on a piece of paper (I guess for a Funeral Home?) and seeing my mothers name on the list of people for upcoming services. I don't remember seeing her body or many of the vivid details, but I do remember her on the list and seem to recall that she died of some kind of health condition / concern. And I just remember being sad because now my dad AND my mom are both dead and gone forever.

It's really brought me down, and I'm worried. Can anyone please give me some insight? Also, is there a possibility that this could be related to my dad?

I think that this dream happened to you because the anniversary of your dad's death is coming up. I think your mind moved from dad's death to parent's death to mom's death, and this dream was kind of about reliving a variation on the dreams of your dad's death but this time with your other parent, perhaps because your mind is still so torutured by your dad's death that it is looking for new ways to express that pain, perhaps because you realized that you are only one parent away from becoming an orphan. I think the fact that you and your mom get along better now made this dream more likely because now you care about your mother more than you used to, and so her death would matter even more to you now than it used to when you used to not get along. Also even if you did not get along, she is still your mother, so her death would matter, and your father's death caused you not to take your other parent's life for granted. Most of us have the luxury to not have to think too much about our parents death if our parents are alive, but you do not have that. I think though that for your own good, perhaps it is time to start focusing more on life. Your dad is dead, and thinking about it so much alas will not change that. Focus on life, and look for ways to enjoy life, to appreciate it. Because living life thinking of death it is not a way to live, and I am sure your father would not have wanted you to mourn him at the expense of your living.

Maybe the nearing anniversery made you realise the similar situation to your dad that your mother is in a sense dead to you by being in prison. You must already almost feel like an orphan because of that.

But you didn't see her body. She was just on the list so isn't really gone.
And maybe due to your concern of her being in there, or the health of the situation which is bad and is separation.
