      Catching some Fish.?

I had a strange dream that my family and I were fishing off the back of a trailer into the river. I caught two fish, they were pretty big. Everyone, myself included was very surprised, because I’m not the best fisher-woman. For a while I just watched them swimming in the river. I could see the silver of thier skin and it was kind of meditative. I spent a long time trying to tie up the fish so they wouldn't get away, and I spent even more time creating a new lure. The moment I dropped it in the water again, it was taken by a huge fish, easily three and a half foot long. It was powerful; too, it swam down the river as soon as it realized it was hooked. I fought for a while, and then two friendly men saw it in the water. I was winning the battle, but they picked it up and slit it’s throat and brought it to me anyway. Even they were impressed by my catches. Once I got the big fish it because clear that I needed to use the corded line to keep the fish tied safely.
This dream struck me as odd, and it's been on my mind since I woke up. That's actually why I decided to make a profile here. I've never dreamed about fish before, the only thing I can think of it I am Pisces, and I love bettas or a couple other fish-tank type fish, but these were river fish.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can clear this up a little for me.

I have once read a dream interpretation by someone else suggesting that water in dreams represents the subconscious at times. If it did in your dream, perhaps the dream is telling you that you are more in tune with your intuition lately for example, that you have had a couple major breakthroughs in understanding yourself better. Your description of watching a fish appear meditative reminded me of that, since meditation is a major tool for improving self understanding, improving spirituality.

Also, do fish have any cultural special meaning for you. For example, in Christianity we have the concept of becoming fishers of men, and the man helping you out with the fish reminded me of that. However, this may or may not be pertinent to you, and if you are not a Christian yourself, Christian metaphors are unlikely to be in your dreams, but then maybe other cultural meaning?

of course, my interpretation ideas may also be wrong.

Other ideas: fishing has the metaphorical meaning of fishing for information for example, also I think it is at times used as a metaphor for dating (a date is sometimes called "a good catch".

It would help if we knew a bit more about what is going on in your waking life, what is on your mind, then could perhaps match a meaning to the dream better, given your circumstances.
