      Orange Cat & Black Cat

I think I know what this means but I want another perspective!

Someone gave me an orange cat and I named it Lucky, and then someone gave me a black cat and I named it Artemis (the goddess who I feel most connected to, in terms of symbolism!)

What do you think this means? I love cats but I've never had any

Is the one who gave you the cats known to you? And, what do you do?

My interpretation of dreams is based on hypotheses, some socio-psychological facts and most importantly context.

Remember that the best interpreter of your dreams is you!

When I read the title I thought immediately of tiger tail ice cream you know cause it's orange and liquorice flavour xD but also I have tigers on the brain right now so um I pretty sure it's not about ice cream. Maybe night and day cause orange is the sun and Artemis is the moon, or something

The one who gave me the cats wasn't known to me, I was more focused on the cats than where they came from. I just named them right away, it was a very short dream.

But I really like that night and day idea Chickadee! Maybe my luck comes in the times when the sun is shining (meaning when good things are obviously happening to me), but my power comes in the times when my luck (seemingly) runs out??? Plus, cats represent feminine strength and independence, which were given to me by an unknown source both in the dream and real life, and the cats seem to represent two forms of feminine strength: the gratitude for luck when it's obviously there, and the power to "hunt" (Artemis is the goddess of the hunt) for new unseen luck when it's nowhere to be found.

What I originally thought was that the orange cat represented the need to be more social and that would give me luck, and the black cat represented the need to follow my intuition and that would give me power.

I think both explanations can be true! XD

If you do not know the person who gave you the cats, then definitely he is not important in the dream. Let us focus on the cats.

      First:
You have a distorted dichotomy. We usually have moon vs sun, evil vs. goodness, light vs dark and white vs black. Here you have orange vs black.

If you had received white and black cats, I would say it had to do with opposites. Such a thing may lead us to think that you are at a crossroads unable to decide whcih way you need to take. You have one road and one option. This is not your case. You do not have a dichotomy.

      Second:
Based on the above assumption, you do not have Orange VS Black. The relationship here is NOT between two mutually exclusive objects or matters.

The relationship is between two things each of which complements the other.

This is exactly what you are saying here:

"""What I originally thought was that the orange cat represented the need to be more social and that would give me luck, and the black cat represented the need to follow my intuition and that would give me power"""

      Third:
Since you named the cat in the dream Lucky, then this means you are dealing with an issue which you think that you need luck in it to succeed.

      Fourth
Since you have a black cat (regardless of its name), I am almost sure that you think that you need money to succeed in that issue or job.

If the above assumptions hold water, then it means that you are addressing an issue and to succeed in this issue you think you are need for both luck and money.

I actually do worry about needing more luck and more money Thanks for the interpretation

Still...I think the other interpretations were fine; especially because the moon is orange and not white lol.

I wasn't really setting up any kind of "dichotomy"; just separating two different situations that I could learn different lessons from. I didn't say they had to be opposite situations; just different.

But I guess what you're saying is that I can learn the lessons together and NOT in different situations?

By the way, I was starting to wake up when I named the black cat Artemis, so I don't think that was really part of the dream anyway

Yes, they are not opposite situations. Each is a piece that helps the other in building up the puzzle picture.
