      You'll Never Believe This Dream

Actually no, you probably will. I just needed to get somebody's attention.

Back story: I'm a 30 yo "single" guy. Recently got back in contact with my childhood gf. I never stopped thinking about her since we were kids even though I haven't talked to her since then. She just got engaged. We were quasi-flirtatious until I dropped out of sight because it's the right thing to do. Let's call her, Anne.

Dream: Out to dinner at a restaurant in a southern town I can't identify with (1) my father, (2) my step mother, (3) my younger sister, (4) my younger sister's bf, (5) a fat girl I had no interest in dating from an old job (who I interacted with randomly on Facebook last night), and (6) Anne. We're sitting around a circular table. The girl from work keeps staring at me. Only, Anne and I keep touching one another in a significantly more intimate. We end up with our arms locked around one another throughout the meal. (There might have been a few more scenes of a similar message previously throughout the dream.) I dreamt that we were going to get married even though Anne had been engaged to someone else. My father comments on our physicality and we ignore him, my arms around hers and hers around mine as we sit besides each other at dinner. Eventually, I know that I have to let Anne go. I end up in a bar in this southern town I can't identify (looked like New Orleans pre Katrina) drinking and writing an album (I am not a songwriter, but I dabble in writing although that's not my real job.)

What does any of that mean?

That's interesting...well it seems like you still have feelings for Anne and feel like you might have had a shot at getting back together with her. Maybe subconsciously you thought she felt the same way. But in the dream you know that you have to let her go, which mirrors the fact that you stopped flirting with her in real life when she got engaged. It just seems like this dream is a reflection of the psychological process you're going through, letting go of the hope of resolving your feelings your feelings with her and moving on. In the dream, you have to physically 'let go' of her, but it's the dream's way of reflecting the more profound way you have to let go of her in real life. The fact that you ended the dream alone and working on something creative might mean that resolving these old feelings will give you further insight, and the fact that even though writing is not your full time job it still might be very important to you since it popped up in a rather serious dream like this.
      Good luck with everything!

There's meaning to it, Truly. I suggest you think of it and ask yourself if there's anything in plain sight that just makes sense.

Do you ever feel as if you are more awake in a dream than when you wake? I've felt that.
