      Lost Baby?

      Good Morning,

I am new here and to posting on forums. I woke up this morning and just HAD to find some clarity or meaning to my dream.

My partner and I have been off and on for the past 7-years. It has not been off and on due to a hostile or volatile relationship; we both have control issues and I have commitment issues but we are truly the best of friends. We've been on a reconciliation path for the past year and recently just moved to a new house and new town to start fresh and see where this all goes; however, I am quickly realizing our life as a couple is coming to a complete end.

I was dreaming that he and I were sitting in our dining room (in the house we live in now) and we had a baby. Her name was Addy (Addison or Maddison), a name we never thought about when we have discussed the possibility of having a child together (he is 39 and I am 36; he has never been a Father and I have never been a Mother). We were admiring her and she was THE MOST beautiful baby we had ever seen and she began to laugh; we all began to laugh and I felt such happiness. You know the kind of laugh where only a baby's laugh can make you feel pure love & warmth.

Next thing I knew, my partner and I were walking through a low-lit, low-end (kind of like an Army & Navy) clothing store and he had the baby in a sling on the front of him and we were weaving through clothing racks towards some mirrors and I was watching him with her and I felt some jealousy. Next thing we were in a house and I was putting the baby on a bed (the house, furnishings, and feelings were not familiar) and I was placing pillows around her so she wouldn't roll off the bed. All of a sudden, I was cooking and I turned around and there were a few other people (children/teenagers, I think) playing video games and hanging out in this room. The room was covered in trash and nobody, including myself, was paying attention to the baby. I went to the bed and she was gone. I began to scream for everyone to find her and I was frantically sweeping the floor of garbage and calling her name. The I heard a faint cry under the bed. I got down and she wasn't there, just garbage. I then woke up. What a horrible feeling and I still can't shake it!

      Hi Canadianscorpio!

You mentioned that you have some controll issues. By anlysing your dream, it sounds like the terrifying part of your dream was developing from this controll issue of yours. Since I believe that dreams are a way for us to realizing insights about ourselves that we usually dont want to take care of in our waken life. I also believe that our dreams sometimes create these nightmarish dreams to make us really confront our problems. And make us take a big step outside our own comfort zone, so we get the chance to actually develop our minds instead of always taking the "saferoad" that we might prefer.

So! Back to your dream. With all that said. I think this dream is more of learning process for you, and that it was trigged to develop as a very stressful situation for you. Since you seems to want to controll your situations in life. And I dont know how you react to non-controlled situations in real life, but according to your dream. My guess is that you feel instant panic?

Deep problems does often lurking in the background of one's dreams as a red tread I believe. You could have a happy dream because you have deep feelings of happines of course! But since there is often more than one kind of deep feeling within you. The problems will still make them self known to you from time to time.

My suggestion to you, is that you start to dealing with the emotions that comes up when you dont have these controlled situations. And the same goes for the commitment issues of cource. You might not find an instant answaer, but eventually with time you might be more and more comfortable with not having any controll, until it one day becomes a non-problem for you. And those kind of nightmares wont be much of a nightmare any longer.

      Good luck to you!

That's a great reply and outlook! It makes sense and yes, I do panic! I have been under a lot of stress and have faced numerous crossroads that have created a great deal of anxiety. I too hope I can start making concrete decisions where I can get out of this rut and ease the feeling of "lost". Thank you for your insight!

I think dreams can represent several different things, different meanings packed into one dream. I wonder whether one of the meanings of your dream is perhaps comparing the relationship that you and your partner have to a baby: something precious that you had together, and now it is gone.
You may say I'm a dreamer.
