getting attacked in bed

I have the same dream each week, at times multiples times a week, for the last few years. I usually physically get out of bed and run (asleep) or sit up screaming and throwing things.

I constantly dream about me laying in bed (to be honest I think my eyes are open, because I see my bedroom the way it is every night and I just moved so I see the new house and the boxes etc). Sometimes I see spiders coming down from the ceiling to get me, sometimes I see orbs of light coming at me, gobs of material, sometimes people are trying to get in the room, this week someone had tried to shoot me with a dart gun that actually shot out a mosquito of poison (don't get me started on how I "knew" that) and i got out of bed ran to the stairs started to go down, ran back up and into the bathroom. I felt a prick and fainted on the bathroom floor. These dreams often result in whiplash, etc.

I am CONSTANTLY exhausted every day - I have a huge feeling this is directly related to my chronic fatigue.

I haven't had a nice dream in years, someone is always chasing me, yelling at me, etc. Everything in my room tries to attack me in some way or another.

I have feelings of fear, I want to say I am paralyzed, but then all of a sudden my pillow will be in my had swatting at the air - I've even hit a ceiling fan off the ceiling and pounded closet door off the tracks. That time I was in my room and all of a sudden saw a man on a ladder basically in the closet trying to get up into the non existent attic opening. he was just a blue collar fix it man - wasn't attacking me this time - (for once thank goodness) BUT was not invited into my room. i flipped out that a man was in my room without my permission, and at 2AM, I proceeded to slam on the closet door saying "hey! hey you get out of there, your not supposed to be in here!" he "didn't hear me" so I kept screaming and slamming, almost broke my hand - but took the door off.

I know its related to stress somehow. When I moved to WA state and moved in with my boyfriend, i remember being super stressed out about work and money. they were bad then - then my mom died a couple years later and they were back and worse and more often.

I've CONTINUED to have them since 2011 though. once or three times a week every week.

And i'm tired - so very tired...I am also scared to sleep.

Please let me know if you have questions - these aren't just dreams, my body hurts!!!

Help!, I'm 27 years old, feel so old because of how tired and achy I am - and am scaring people :( its not healthy

Hi, you have some fascinating experiences going on here. Unfortunately due to current situations and your history you are experiencing them traumatically. Leaving your body can actually be blissful, deeply meaningful, spiritually enriching etc. Its sounds the opposite of this just now so you have my deepest sympathies.

My advice would be to contact a good energy worker near you to balance out some of the stuff going on with you. A good acupunturist or TCM practitioner worth their salt should help you start to sort some of this out. There are equally other good healing modalities that would assist you.

The chronic fatigue and fear sort of go hand in hand. You are like an engine thats very out of tune. Its not running smoothly just now, making noises, burning oil, using too much fuel etc. Your energy system is the same. It just needs a good tune up. When it gets that, everything else sort of falls into place naturally, stress, relationships, work, dreaming etc. Even the explanations of the strange experiences will find their own best fit for you in their own good time.

Till then relax. You are not the first person to go through this, many of us here have (I have). What now seems like a nightmare often become a sort of awakening process to some wonderful new way of being.

Well, this sounds to me like intense hypnogogic or hypnopompic hallucinations.

These are images, sounds or tactile sensations that can happen as we are either falling asleep or waking up. They can happen also when we are inducing a lucid dream via WILD method.

Have you ever tried controlling them?

You can prepare for this during day. Best way to deal with something scary or threatening is to embrace it, to project love and understanding to it.

I'm thinking, that even if you say you are awake, you are actually asleep. Seeing your room and thinking your eyes are open are also very common when we induce lucid dreams. So next time this happens, you can change what is happening. The spiders you see, change them into bunnies just by thinking "oh, look at those cute bunnies". People you see, change them into your friends, or anything you like.

But just to be on the safe side, since this is happening to your this often, I would mention this to your doctor. Best one that knows about sleep and dreams.

The site wont let me talk about Christianity, which is so much a part of me in the way that I interperet dreaming, i cant separate myself from it. It is censorship to not allow me to talk about my faith.

Cool, I don't know anyone who does that, so I would love to talk to you about it, but then I suppose we should migrate to the religious section or we can PM.

But at the same time I agree with gab(the admin) about on/off-topic stuff. You should not give someone a religious response in a non-religious section unless they ask for it, fully knowing that your response is based on Christianity.

Thank you so much for the reply - I'm sorry it took me so long, I didn't get a notification. Anyways, I will definitely try this bunny idea. However, I have to say - I've never been able to know if i'm dreaming or experiencing something "fake" in the moment before. I wish I could control my dreams - and perhaps that is what i need to do , learn to control them. I so appreciate your reply!

I also am so excited that you put a name, or "type" to this dreaming - hypnogogic or hypnopompic hallucinations. I am going to google away! I will let you know how it goes.

Well this does sound quite traumatizing. I already assume this, but you never realize that the threat is your imagination until you wake up right?
Sorry for asking so many questions, but I can't really provide a good response unless I know what is going on.

You are correct! and i am highly embarrassed each time I wake up...

One thing you could do is an altered type of reality checks/mantras. Like you could make it so that any time you are in your room you thoroughly consider the situation before reacting, no matter how scary it is. One way to do this is mantras, written or spoken. The more times you do this the better. Another way could be every time you enter your room you do a reality check, then consider the situation. This way these things might bleed over into the dream and you will realize it is not a threat.

Also I don't want to disrespect Oldbill but I personally think you should not see an energy worker at least of his description. Although I do not believe in them, I have a good reason why. Your mental state and energy is your own, and only you can fix it. This is because no one else can really know what you are feeling exactly and they can't go inside your mind. Just like how a psychiatrist or therapist can help you unravel mental problems, but they can't do it themselves. They can only guide you and tell you how. If someone claims that they can solve these problems they are probably fake. If they want to help you solve the problems, they are probably more reliable.

As for the concept of an energy imbalance, I don't believe in that, at least in the physical sense. That is why I do not like acupuncture. I think that if a human's energy was manifested in this dimension/plane, and if it was potent enough that you could effect it by poking yourself with a needle, there would be many other things like getting energy imbalance from a bruise or starting fire with your energy, etc. I do, however, believe in energy in a more non-physical sense. Whether it be mental, or very subtle intangible energies in your body or on another plane of existence, people do get problems associated with chakra blockage or energy imbalance. And it is also true that meditation helps this a lot, as it balances you mentally and/or spiritually.

The reality checks/mantras method might solve the problem at hand, but it might be better to get to the source, or what is causing these nightmares. I will do some research on dreams/etc. and read a book I have relating to nightmares, and maybe I can find out what is causing these. After that, I will give you my best educated guess(es) on what to do.

If you want I can provide any or all of these three answers: purely scientific, spiritual/energy, and/or christian.

When you are in a lucid dream, particularly in a WILD type, you do feel like you are in your own body, moving. In a WILD lucid dream, we go straight from fully conscious to asleep and dreaming, while keeping the awareness. This way often times I'm still thinking that I'm not asleep but awake, making a shopping list in my head, when something clicks and I think to myself what if I'm dreaming already. I try to get off the sofa and I do stand up. When I do, I realize that I am already in a dream, lucid.

Just before this happens, I may see things, hear things, or feel things. It can be scary, because you think you are awake, but in fact you are asleep and what you experiencing is a dream - or beginning of a dream that's the HH - hallucinations.

To help me remember what I wanted to do, I'm falling asleep with some kind of affirmation - intent. For me, it's "when I see my room, I get up". This way when I notice I see my room (while falling asleep with eyes closed), and I hear myself repeating (in my mind) this mantra, I stand up.

So for you it could be "when I see [...] I stand up, or I know I'm dreaming, or anything you wish to do.

And dream control sounds more difficult than it is. Dreams react to our feelings, expectations, intent. We can change them just by thinking it. But if you notice, I didn't change the scary thing by wishing for it to change "oh I wish it would change into ...". But I spoke of it as if I already saw the bunny "look how cute that bunny is". If your mind hears you saying bunny, it will show you a bunny. (you can pick anything else ofc, I just went for something cute and cuddly and totally non-threatening".

So important part in dream control is to know that what you want is already there.

you are wonderful, I am excited to start to embrace all this and try to get this under control - I know that my health will just all fall into place if I can get all this under control. I don't mind dreaming as long as I'm not making myself exhausted all the time and am able to be relaxed.
