      Odd vivid dream story

I tried my best to remember this but as soon as I woke I forgot the early part of the dream. There are four main characters. An old bitter man about 60, a young aggressive guy, about 15-18, and a duo about the same age, a girl and boy. Throughout the dream I am usually the boy of the duo, although I may have been the old man earlier, and one stage when I'm the girl. I don't seem to have much choice in action as the story progresses. I believe we are all middle class Americans.

It seems like the setting is modern during a warm time of year or a warm state in the US. It's either in a small town or suburbs.

So I know that the earlier dream mostly involved the old man, he went about his days angry and resentful towards life in general. He had some sort of job, but he was self employed, maybe a salesman. I first recall that he won a contest which was announced somehow (radio or tv) to which he would be mailed a letter with vacation tickets. He wasn't very impressed. Some time went by and he didn't take the trip.

As the boy of the duo, I am fond of the girl, and I think she might like me too. We hang out with friends etc. The bully/troubled kid bothers us and our friends and is usually up to no good. Nobody messes with him because he's very unstable.

The old man commits suicide. When this happened and the action was over, we decided to break into the old man's house tolook for the ticket overseas, maybe we could take the trip. This house was quaint, maybe a townhome or ground level suite. There were stairs leading from the kitchen upstairs. I think the entrance was next to the kitchen past a small hall, which is where I think we broke in. I think there were no other rooms downstairs.

So we break in through one side of the house, make our way into the kitchen. We first look at the wastebasket, I forgot if we pulled it out from under the sink or it was exposed. His kitchen was small and had a dining table next to it, with a window. I look in the wastebasket and notice a crumpled envelope with a red and blue striped border sitting on top of the full can. At the moment I go to take it, a boy comes to the window, which isn't shaded. So I stop myself. The boy is a friend of the unstable boy.

Here's where I have option in the dream. The boy opens the window, perhaps I helped, and says that he's looking for the envelope with the old man's ticket. I decide I will try to keep the envelope.

I rustle the trash, grab the envelope, pretend its nothing and hide it when he's unaware. We continue to rustle the trash "looking" for it. The girl is in the room with me the entire time. The boy stays at the window and never enters the house, just hangs in to rustle with me.

I'm driving in the next scene, and I'm going to a boy. I know there's been trouble. I think the boy is the same one as before in the kitchen. The aggressive boy beat the crap out of him, he's covered in blood. I leave quickly, feeling threatened and worried.

Next scene, I forget if there was something in between, was of the unstable boy at a large old house with the girl. I think she might have been tied but maybe not. She was intimidated and I don't know why she was alone with him. He seemed to suspect something.. he gently probed her until she confessed about the envelope. He quickly grew angry and cried something towards her emotionally, as though betrayed. He pulled out a gun and shot her two or three times in the face/head. He ran from the room outside the house. I was in the girls body so I didn't see her, but now I drift/walk beind the boy as he runs outside onto the deck of the house. He pulls up one of the floor boards with a little trouble. I look up and hear sirins and see blue/red flashing lights through the house (we are on the side and I'm looking towards the front). He hides the gun under the deck and leaves running. I'm fairly distraught, I collapse in a pile and lie thinking about the dream. Which is how I wake up.

I live in Vancouver BC am a 27 year old guy with a wife and kid. I don't own a gun and don't have a history which relates to this dream. I also don't recognize any of the characters. The dream was very unusual for me, vivid and intricate. I can't recall much but it was as clear as day. I wasn't lucid. I am wondering what might have happened if I decided to give the ticket to the other boy looking for it..

Thanks to anyone providing input :-)

      Dude...
Nothing is really unnatural here. You just had a long vivid dream. You say that you don't recognise any of the faces, that's because subconiously you remember every face you see, well at least most of them and that's why you get such a range of DCs. You'll be amazed if you knew the power of the subconious. The fact that you don't relate to this dream at all isn't really uncommon.
Just thought I would tell you that,
      -GangsterPanda,

So after some thought I decided that the struggle in this dream has to do with a struggle in my head. The first house was neatly organized and clean, the old man's house. The second house was somewhat derelict, there was not really any furniture and the grass in the yard was overgrown. The room where the girl was shot was boarded on the inside, the light was just a bulb hanging from a cord in the middle of the ceiling. I think the houses embody two seperate worlds inside my mind.

I chose to take the envelope which led to the young girl getting killed. I think this selfishness is what brought about this ending. I think if I just gave the envelope to the punk's friend I wouldn't have encountered the darker image of my mind.

Does this make sense to anyone?
