      Dream about Fight with Dog

I have had many strange dreams, but I will submit one dream per post. I'm sure that's how the [n]etiquette works. I'll start with the one I had last night.

I dreamed about either a feral dog, a coyote, or possibly a hybrid (I used to live in an area with coyotes).

I have read that this is a bad omen, but I don't remember being actually attacked by this dog. It was growling at me and seemed ready to attack, and the next thing I knew I had it by the throat. I seemed to be unable to choke it so I grabbed a screwdriver and and killed it by driving it into its neck. And I was thinking about how I didn't really want to kill it, it just seemed like what I had to do. I wasn't afraid either.

If you want more details about my circumstances, I have been homeless for the last 2 years.

The presence of animals in dreams usually points to the issue of the dreamer’s overall attitude towards his or her instinctive reactions, emotions, vague feelings, intuitions, fantasies and similar inborn natural traits, so the very upsetting situation of being homeless for 2 years might have understandably resulted in you not letting in certain feelings of anger and frustration etc., as well as not letting in helpful thoughts and intuitions etc. which maybe could help you.

Since these are inborn parts of you, they should somehow be allowed to exist in their own right even though this can be painful at times.

So it’s as if the inner dog/coyote has been enraged by his being denied his right to exist and he could retaliate by “attacking” you.

Unfortunately, in a practical way this could eventually result in you often feeling too down about things and/or in having outbursts of anger and getting physically ill more often etc.

So as you felt in the dream, maybe you shouldn’t really kill the dog but instead, allow your emotions etc. in more often as well as you can in your hard situation.

That way, things are more likely to get better over time.

I think I agree quite a bit with Athanor. I believe that there is something ingrained in you that you have ignored. Was this dog/coyote/hybrid well fed? That can tell you a lot about what your subconscious is pointing to, and exactly what it is referring to. If it was well fed, then this is something ingrained that you are actively "feeding" or doing. Example would be a habit that you keep doing, and you don't want to. You know you don't have to completely get rid of whatever this is, but you do need to "tame it". If it wasn't well fed; then this is saying that this is a ingrained trait that you haven't been "feeding" or using. Example would be something that you are good at (or comes natural to you), but you refuse to do it (or don't think it can help you). Starving dogs often show natural instincts that aren't "nurtured" or "fed".

      Hope this helped

I used to be a negative person (I think that may be how I ended up like this... a vortex of negativity). But I have been working on becoming a positive, happy person. I am being thankful for everything that comes my way. I still get a little down sometimes, but it's like a storm that blows over.

I'm hoping this dream means that I'll triumph over my circumstances.

As far as its appearance, it looked a little lean on its hind end. Like maybe a Doberman.

I can easily see this Seeing as it has a skinny hind quarters would make me think that this is something that you might have fed, but aren't now. To me this could very easily be negative behaviors, and thoughts. Which in turn are good to kill, but then the "I didn't have to kill it", would mean that you should "tame these" instead of "kill them". Sometimes negative feelings are the result of something being off, and its our intuitions way of telling us "something isn't right". It is taken over board by people all the time (I am guilty of it), and it can quickly turn into a vortex of bad things. That being said though, remember that bag signs, and negative feelings have helped up survive evolutionary wise in the past. I think this dream is saying that you need to more tame this, instead of just becoming overly optimistic. The other extreme isn't always better. I do believe that this is a good sign though that you have a brighter future though because you are not scared in the dream.
