      Interrupted While Converting to Islam

      Hello All:

Thanks for taking the time to read this as I have never even thought about my dreams deeply but this one for some reason is really puzzling me.
First off, I am a single woman in my late twenties. I'm not religious although my mother was very religious (Christian) for a few years during my preteens and early teen years. I don't read the news and I know nothing about Islam besides all the bad that you hear about it here in The States.
My dream starts off in a gold mosque that's beautiful on the inside and I'm sitting at a wooden table looking at the Quaran. I'm surrounded by Muslim women in full coverings and I'm about to do a ritual to wear a hijab. All of a sudden the room is filled with light and I can hear other people in the mosque yelling and some of them begin to throw books at a figure I can't quite make out because he's surrounded by piercing bright light. As he comes closer I see he's an old farmer in his late seventies to early eighties and he's dirty like he's been out in the field. He's weeping silently, tears just streaming down his face and he's carrying a bloody crown of thorns. The blood's running down his hands onto the floor and when he gets to me he stops and hands me the crown of thorns. When I hold the crown of thorns I'm overcome by amazement but I'm also terribly confused. The flowing blood doesn't bother me and even though I'm gripping it I'm not pierced and I'm not in pain. When I look up I'm not in the mosque anymore. I'm in this white space with this old farmer. The crown of thorns is gone now. I stand there completely confused and the farmer, still weeping, walks to me again and tightly grabs my hand. That's the end of the dream.
I don't know why this dream is bothering me so much. Maybe it's just seeing Muslims on the news and the short churchy period I had as a kid. I'm definitely not anything in this dream. I do draw children's illustrations and I'm into art as a hobby big time. Maybe that's why this dream was so creative and admittedly a bit spooky.

well,im a muslim morrocan.I ve been present several time in the mosqe while a western person is converting to islam.the rituals are executed in a peacefull atmosphere and people are always happy for this person and for the muslim community.I think the weird events that happened in your dream are caused by the stereotypes saying that islam is a violent and terrorist religion. These stereotypes are due to the bloody acts of some criminal minds who pretend that they are defending islam while their real intention is to create a bloody image of our religion.there is a prophecy that anticipated those evil intentions.Islam is a lightfull and peacefull religion ,you must read quran instead of observing and judging some bad muslim's acts. We do believe in jesus and christianity, but our strongest belief is that islam came to the world to correct christianity coz it was falsified to serve churche's interests, and to be the last divine message to unify the believers community.

Hey! I am not a Muslim, but I think that this is an interesting dream due to the crown of thorns. The only place that that can really come from is from Jesus, he had a crown of thorns put on him during His execution as people mocked Him, because the Romans couldn't find anything wrong with Him, they executed him anyways to keep the Jewish leaders of that day happy. In a place where they would usually put their crime on the cross, they put a board saying his crime as being "The King of the Jews".
More of personal ideas going with my beliefs
Jesus is also known for crying a lot and looking more like a homeless person rather than the savior of the world, however, he died at 33, so it would be weird if it was supposed to be him.
There is a lot of churches stating now that Muslims around the world are turning to Jesus because "He visited them in a dream." Funny connection.

As Inceptionist said, Islam tries to correct Christianity. Mohammad, the prophet of Islam, is actually not even supposed to be God or Allah, he is in fact a human, while still believing that Jesus was sinless. I am a follower of Jesus, the sinless one.
The biggest difference between Islam and Christianity is that God is love (1 John 4:8), and that Islam doesn't call Allah loving, but that he loves specific people (those who do good). So while Allah and God may share the same name in different languages, God's attribute of being Love and loving men even while they are still sinners, makes him a lot different than Allah.

I am not here to debate Christianity and Islam, just point out some interesting things that might effect the interpretation of your dream. As Inceptionist said, the majority of Muslims are not violent or terrorists, but people searching for the truth, especially Muslims in the United States (Where I live) that I have met and hung out with. There are radicals in most all religions. In Christianity we preach peace and love, but there are many times in the past that people in the name of Jesus have done evil, just like people, in the name of Islam (Which is actually derived from the word peace in Arabic), do evil.

Welcome to DV! I hope you check out the rest of the forum, we are all about learning to realize inside of dreams that we are dreaming (lucid dreaming) and we are a pretty open and inviting community from many places and backgrounds.

@Inceptionist, please correct anything I said about Islam as well. A lot of what I hear about it comes from the bias of Christians, since I am a Christian and I learned about most religions from a Christian worldview. I try to insert myself into other people's view so that I can understand why someone would follow a certain path, because it is always interesting to me learning about new and interesting views.

Ah, another big difference in our stories (I didn't know that about Islam, I knew you had a different end for Jesus, but not what it was), because Jesus is our savior, not just someone that prophesies. Plus, almost all of God's (my God's) prophets were killed.

And I am glad that I am well informed on the other points (and now this point as well) I shall hopefully see you around the forum happy lucids.

Thanks to both of you for your input. I will totally agree that I don't have much knowledge on Islam, The Quran, or Muslims. I have never met a Muslim person and I know for a fact there are rotten people in every religion or group on Earth. I live in the United States too and the only news Muslims ever make are terrorist attacks. I only ever saw one time an article about good things Muslims are doing for our homeless.
I've been really thinking probably way too deeply about this dream and I think in some regards it's my subconscious and waking brain fighting. I went through some pretty horrible abuse as a kid and I've been extremely suicidal for a few months now that I've quit drinking. I've been trying to find God but I feel nothing. I'm not even sure if I'll ever believe in the concept of a god ever again. Islam and Christianity give their believers purpose which is something I feel I currently lack in my life. Maybe the elderly farmer is a representation of death and if I were to kill myself I'd be dying young. I think the ritualistic nature of the dream is me badly wanting my life to have meaning and the seriousness of both religions at this time in my life.

Your soul needs to cover its spiritual emptiness . The majority of psychologists confirm that faith is something very important for our psychologic equilibrium, it gives purpose to our lives. you think this whole mysterius universe suddenly came from nothing . you know friend owlette , after i discoverd the magic of lucid dreaming, my faith became bigger coz i said to my self that this mysterious and miraculous human brain is certainly not a product of a hazardous emptiness .Its a product of our omnipotent creator and we should thank him a lot for this gift.
About your depression, you should read the part of laberge's book where he explains how to solve our psychological conflicts thru lucid dreaming . With faith , prayers and happy lucids , I hope you may find happiness and prosperity. Life is too short ,be positive benefit from its advantages and don't be haunted by your past coz it didn't exist anymore.

You're definitely right about my need to fulfill my spiritual emptiness. So much of Western culture focuses on wealth, inhibiting aging, being attractive, and climbing the corporate ladder. This is not me as a person and so it all seems trite. Faith is something that is openly mocked. Even though I've experienced violence I don't believe people are "mistakes" or animals. You're also right that it makes no sense to focus on the past because it's gone. I'm going to continue to practice lucid dreaming and start to try to find where I belong spiritually. Thank you for your kind input.
