      The chamber of sewage

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me analyse the vivid dream I had recently that I haven't been able to get out of my head. I keep having flashbacks of the dream but haven't actually dreamt it again in its entirety.
The first part of the dream I remember is I being lead or beckoned to follow by a man I couldn't recognise. He was leading me and a small child who was holding my hand and following behind through what I can beat describe as a maze of pipes. I recall the pipes were large and rusted. There were hundreds of them and it was a tight fit most times to follow the unknown man as he seemed to know exactly where he was going and could navigate through the twists and turns of these huge pipes with ease. In the dream I did not want to touch the pipes as they appeared to be mostly leaking a strange kind of sludge at parts. And I could not see much further than the man infront of me and the small child behind me when I looked to see if they were still holding my hand and following closely behind. Wherever I was seemed dark, but there was light enough for me to see the man clearly without having a face I can recall or remember, and the same for the case of the child. This light appeared to only light what was very close to us, and as we moved past each part of the so called maze of pipes, it fell back into darkness.
I remember feeling confident in the dream that I was right to be following the man although I did not know who he was. And also worries for the safety of the child behind me, confident though that the man was leading us somewhere he knew was good.

The man appeared to be tall and well dressed. Not an old man, but older than myself, who is 23. After following the man through the route he appeared to be so sure of through all of these pipes, he had led us to a massive chamber that appeared very dirty with a river of slow moving black sludge moving through it. This is the part of the dream where I started to feel uneasy and though the man had lead us somewhere we didn't want to be. Walking up a concrete walkway to the side of the black river, the man seemed amused. He stopped leading us and turned to me and the child and said nothing more than 'hold on'.
The chamber then started to rumble and huge powerfully bursts of sewer water gushed in through the walls of th chamber behind and in front of me. At this stage I was terrified in the dream. I knew this place was somewhere I did not want to be and I scrambled to find something secure to hold on to to prevent myself and the child being swept away in the torrents of filthy water which was now pouring into the river of sludge causing it to rapidly rise, which appeared very menacing to me.
The man was in front of me the whole time and seemed to have no problem withstanding these extremely powerful floods of sewage water that filled the chamber and battered us.
the dirty water then began to drain out and the chamber appeared more disgusting than before. I remember feeling relief that the floods had subsided but the man still looked amused which made me nervous.
After once again looking to see if the child was with Mr the room started to shake more violently than before. This time not o ly my own, but the child's distress seemed very evident to me and the huge blasts of dirty water once again started to fill the room and threaten to wash us away. The dream ended very shortly after this and I woke up in a cold sweat terrified.
I havent idea what it means and I would love if someone could help me to analyse this as it has been stuck in my head for a week and I keep daydreaming about this vile water filling the massive chamber.
I have suffered from depression and still do to a certain extent brought about by social anxiety. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the dream but as I am not the expert in the analysis it may be relevant.
The more I thought about the dream the more I started to think both the man and the child in the dream were myself only younger and older versions. I am not sure of this but is a thought that started to develop from the point of the dream ending.
If anyone can offer any kind of analysis I would be very grateful as I have had extremely vivid dreams in the past that I have not tried to analyse or think in to, which would occur every 3 years or so. I do dream frequently but I have had extremely vivid dreams not similar in situation but similar in intensity and the way in which they seem disturbing. If anyone requires any more input from me I am more than happy to post again. Thanks a million for any help guys, and thanks for reading. C.

Hi Peter, sorry for the nasty dreams doesn't sound like alot of fun, although even if they do seem horrible i see some good in them as well, so this is what i think they are trying to say
In general sewage and poo is negative feelings and because of the child i think it was in the past , so all this sewage needs to get out of your system too cleanse you. The man in the dream being unphased shows you won't be swept away by all these negative emotions but you do need to deal with them.

I will add some interpretations straight from the book take care.
      Sewage
To see sewage in your in dream represents your rejected or shameful emotions. It also symbolic of low esteem.

      Sewer
To see a sewer in your dream signifies putrid conditions and old relationships. Something needs to be cleaned up or immediately changed. You need to let go of your outdated ideas and beliefs.
To see a sewer pipe in your dream represents the flow of subconscious material being suppressed deeper and deeper. You need to address these issues before it overflows.
Dreaming about a flood with mud and/or garbage coming out of the sewer indicates that your feelings are repeatedly being belittled, undermined or unacknowledged. You feel disrespected.

      Pipe
To see a water pipe in your dream indicates that you are open and receptive to new ideas. It may also represent your connections to those around you. You are able to steer something toward an direction.

      Feces
To see or come in contact with feces signifies aspects of yourself that are dirty and negative and which you believe to be undesirable and repulsive. You need to acknowledge and express these feelings, even though it may be shameful. Release the negativity in your life. Alternatively, it may also refer to someone who is anal retentive.

To dream that you are unable to dispose of the feces suggests that you are unwilling to let go of your emotions. You have a tendency to hold in and keep your feelings to yourself.
According to Freud, feces is related to possession, pride, shame, money/financial matters, or aggressive acts.So to dream that you are playing with feces symbolizes your anxiety over money matters and financial security.

      Maze
To dream that you are in a maze denotes that you need to deal with a waking task on a more direct level. You are making the situation harder than it really is. Alternatively, the maze symbolizes life's twists and turns. It represents indecision, confusion, missteps, feeling lost or being misled.
