Bus accident

Hello everyone, this is my first topic.
I want to talk about one of my recent dreams...
I've recently visited a foreign country for study reasons, soon I will have to come back there and find an apartment. Just today I returned in my hometown and I've dreamt about a bus accident.
The dream starts with me seated near the driver's seat and inside the bus there are some people who I couldn't recognize. At a certain point, the bus is parked close to a downhill, and I notice that it is starting to fall (the driver is not inside the vehicle), I promtly pull the hand brake but the bus continues to fall acquiring speed, so I get out of it just in time and start to follow its descent in the city. While I follow it I notice that it also killed an innocent person.
At this point, I woke up.
I want to underline that this period is quite difficult for me, a lot of changes have occured and soon I'll have to study/live alone in a foreign country (it's my own decision, I've always wanted to do so).

Although in order to provide a more accurate interpretation it would usually be best to have some additional general background information about you (and a description of any unusual events just before the dream), it looks like the dream is trying to provide a little good advice before you start out on this exciting but stressful time of studying on your own in another country.

Just to mention that there are generally no fixed interpretations for a given image in a dream and it’s always best to have the spontaneous memories, thoughts and feelings of the dreamer as related to each image and event.

That way, a better analysis is more likely, but having said that, there are some general symbolic motifs that appear in dreams which can serve as a basic starting point for discovering a dream’s meaning.

Also, the language of dreams is one based on analogies and metaphors which of course can be hard to understand.

In addition, dreams are the broad equivalent to those processes which keep our physical bodies in an equilibrium.

For example, automatic adjustments are continually made to keep a person’s temperature, blood sugar level, water content etc. etc. at appropriate levels.

In an equivalent way, dreams try to maintain an overall psychological balance which will allow for the gradual all-round self-development of the dreamer.

So to start off, a vehicle in dreams represents a complex mix of the physical body along with a person’s interests, drives, wishes and beliefs etc. etc.; that is, it symbolizes a kind of body-and-mind unity with which the person moves through daily life.

Your dream shows you going on the trip in a bus as opposed to driving a car of your own.

The idea of the bus instead of a car suggests that, for instance, the reason you’ve always wanted to live and study alone in a foreign country might possibly have been related to some mostly unseen inner collective values instead of being connected with a more individual reason for this choice.

Or maybe the new experiences at school etc. could tend to be very strongly linked to “what everybody says is the best thing to do” etc. and therefore you might lose track of what’s actually best for you as an individual person who has a certain set of abilities, goals and potentials etc.

These ideas is based on the analogy that “anyone can take a bus” and that a rider doesn’t direct the bus’s movement forward.

Also, a bus line is owned by a company or government, so it’s not “individual” in that way either.

In addition, the routes that buses take are the “main roads” and there are certain fixed schedules etc. which don’t allow for much leeway or different routes etc.

The steep hill might also be hinting that certain values in society are strong like “gravity” (which pulls the bus down the hill without a driver) and these could tend to influence you too much if you don’t try to stay more aware of them (e.g. the dream shows you sitting near the “driver’s seat” which turns out to be what saves you from the crash).

It looks like the dream is also saying that these forces in society can be very strong and it might be better not to get caught up in them very much (e.g. by being on the bus) because it could be very hard to “stop yourself” from getting into an “accident” over them (e.g. the brakes don’t work and you have to jump off the bus).

It’s even possible that the dream is saying that you yourself could be the “innocent person” who is “killed”, that is, who is made “totally unconscious”, and who therefore wouldn’t be able to fulfill his inborn life potentials very well in the years ahead.

So as mentioned, because this is a very important time of transition in your life, it looks like the dream is trying to help you become more aware of this type of problem so that you’ll be successful in what you want to do while staying close to being the “real you”.

Anyway, without knowing much about you, this way of looking at your dream might not fit your personal circumstances very well, but I hope that these ideas can be helpful in some way.

Well, It's a big change for me. I feel excited about it, but unconsciously I have some fears about the idea of moving in a different city alone where I don't know anybody. I think that also the fact that I still have to wait for the "big moment" I'll have to leave my old lifestyle plays an important role in this anxiety.
I also want to underline that what I'm going to study is completely different from my previous education standards, I used to study humanistic subjects and now I'll have to start studying computer based things. I have always enjoyed working with softwares, especially the ones that required creativity (I mean graphics, editing etc.), I pursued these interests during the past years despite my school didn't teach me anything that was even close to them, in fact, I didn't like these years of awful teachings and was always sleepy or kind of depressed during the school time. So I recently decided to follow my old passions and things I used to like, I do know that it will be completely different and I think I'm still too attached to the values/ideas I was given in the previous years... for example teachers or parents saying that using computer or videogames is a waste of time.
Maybe this extra information given by me will help you understand better my situation.

Every young person who you’ll meet at school probably will have the same feelings of anxiety mixed with excitement that you have even though they might not admit it.

The best thing to do is just “plunge in” as if you were going for a nice swim which you are in a way because you’ll finally be able to really study the things you love.

From what you said, maybe the dream is saying that you shouldn’t throw out ALL of the values and ideas that you were given in the past because that might be like getting on a bus with no driver and the bus then runs down a hill on its own. Instead, maybe you just have to gradually think back on some values and ideas that come to mind in the months ahead to see which ones could be worth keeping.
