i had dream about what day i will die

Can anyone help me figure out what this dream might mean? I'm a little freaked out.

In the dream, I purchased a book which had been rumored (in this dream world) to have your date of death along with a little blurb describing something to do with it, on the first page. The one that I purchased in the dream said something about a British businessman in a tan coat stepping out of a cab and reading a text message and not being able to understand that the person was trying to text them "I love you". I'm an American woman, so I'm assuming I'd be the one texting this man. Underneath, it had the date of death as August 2031. It had a day too but I can't remember specifically, maybe something in the teens. It was written as 08.??.31. I remember in the dream thinking I had nothing to worry about because there's no way the publishers would be able to print enough unique books and ensure they get to the correct person, but in real life I'm wondering why I dreamt this, and maybe what significance the date could have? I have no idea about the British business man either but it's the part about predicting when I will die that is the scary part.

as these would translate not as August but rather Undecember 8th or Haptadecember 8th or some such imaginary month :)

I don't think the dream would have been taking place in England, just that the book mentioned that the man happened to be British, but that's a good point.

Hi Guy,
this was from a few days ago so it's not as fresh in my memory but I'll do my best.

the dream was definitely one scene, when I remember my dreams I usually remember them as being short, separate clips with nothing to do with one another.

I can't remember anything about the location of the dream. Perhaps a bookstore as I remember someone selling the book to me, possibly a man but I never looked up to see their face. It may have been some sort of independent or used bookstore because I do remember the lighting not being great, imagine a single light shining for me to look inside this book.

This person and I were both standing, face to face as they held the book in their hands turned so that I could read it.
I can't remember what was said but I assume there was a conversation.

When the dream began, I recall feeling scared about this book's power but at the end, I definitely was feeling calmer as I do remember my last thought in the dream being something like, "it's impossible that they would be able to print enough unique copies and get them to the right person".

That's all I remember, I wish I had posted when I woke up that day as I may have been able to recall more...

Thanks for so quickly replying. There’s also no need to apologize. One can only recall what one can recall.

Dreams are for each of us to interpret on our own. Therefore, if anything I say doesn’t resonate with you, then simply discard it. So with that said, off I go…

First I consider what I can recall about the location. I’m indoors in what might have been a bookstore. I could have located the dream in any place, at any time and in any reality and I am selecting a bookstore for my dream location. Why?

A bookstore is where some forms of knowledge and entertainment are stored. It also has traditionally been how we have recorded things and how we learn from it. I ask myself if it is about knowledge, entertainment, recording things or learning? Learning. Ah…it’s about time. Very interesting.

I’m standing in what I call a “belief compartment”. What do I mean by this?

I’ve learnt that before we incarnate we carefully select our location, time, family, life challenges and…our personality. I’ve also learnt that the way we select our personality is by selecting approximately 200 energy “belief filters”. In effect, they filter our reality from the greater one we actually live in, thus creating our own reality.

Each belief has two polarities, a masculine and a feminine one. We select the degree of polarity we are going to select, i.e. how feminine or masculine we are going to hold the belief.

This then determines the energy vibrational level for each belief. Each belief then interacts with the other beliefs, on a moment-to-moment basis.

We constantly let ourselves know about these through our dreams. When we are in rooms, they are a “belief compartment” with the walls symbols of different beliefs and objects in the rooms symbols of yet more beliefs.

If we are not making much progress on the beliefs the rooms appear darker and don’t have any windows or doors. As we begin to work our way through the beliefs, windows and doors appear and objects disappear in the rooms. Then I usually find walls begin to disappear and finally, I have released the old beliefs.

So there I am in a belief compartment with the lighting “not that great”. So the beliefs I am dealing with is lower vibration ones. As an aside, I’ve also learnt that as we begin to recognize the underlying beliefs, sunlight comes into the rooms. This is a symbol of my higher self-assisting me. In this case, I am working on my own though the beliefs.

I then note that I am standing. This is important. Why?

In my dreams, if I am lying down, I usually wake up and groan to myself. It means I have lots of heavy spiritual lifting ahead of me because I can’t yet even raise myself spiritually up to see some of the effects of my beliefs.

If I am sitting, it means I require spiritual support to see the effects of my beliefs.

When I am standing, it means I’m now able to spiritually stand on my own two feet to see the effects of my beliefs.

When I’m walking, it’s a symbol I am working my way through the beliefs.

So, in this dream I am now able to spiritually stand on my own two feet to see some of the effects of my beliefs. I take some comfort from this.

So who’s the man in my dream? He’s another life of mine.

I learnt many years ago from my meditations and dreams that I have lived thousands of lives. I used to call them past lives until I had dreams that showed me the so called “past lives” were living at the same time I was.

I then came across some books from Robert Monroe. He was the man who coined the term “out of body” experience and created the Monroe Institute to study this. He wrote three books, which I feel you should read in order.

In one of his books, he was recalling an experience of him out of his body watching these soldiers in a road side battle. He watched as one of them was killed. Then he watched someone come for the soldier to escort him to his spiritual home.

In another book he then went back to the same scene and it was him who was helping the soldier! Bob realized that he is part of a large soul group, where time is meaningless. So he called his lives, his “other lives”. This resonated with me, so now I refer to them as my other lives.

So why is this other life in the belief compartment with me? He too shares some of the same underlying beliefs. He is working through them with me.

Brittany, as an aside, when other lives show up in belief compartments with me, I usually meditate on them asking for their help. Also, before I go to sleep each night, I ask them to assist me in working my way through the beliefs.

So now we come to the heart of the dream…the book.

So what is all this about? Hmm…

I am buying the book. I could have simply read the book BUT I AM BUYING IT. This has several meanings…

First of all, I am buying into the beliefs of the book. This is one that accepts a linear time line for living with a beginning and an end, i.e. death. So this dream is about my ideas of time, death and what I can or can’t do about it.

Second, it’s about what I call “command/control” beliefs. These are a group of beliefs where the masculine based beliefs is scared of my feminine. As a result, they build physical, mental and spiritual walls around myself.

This is expressed in real life in our societies. We use money as one of many ways of controlling things. There is one who has it and one who doesn’t.

In my dreams there is usually a “controller” and a “controlee” when I am dealing with command/control beliefs. In this dream, I have the money and am “purchasing knowledge”. I want to learn about death in my future and what to do about it.

Recall I am indoors and the lighting isn’t that great. So I am starting to realize the limitations of my existing beliefs, which I am surrounding myself with.

So what’s with the British businessman stepping out of a cab and not being able to understand that the person texting them was telling them that “I love you”.

Is this a future person I could be involved with? No. Is it another life? Yes.

Is it another life in the “future”? No.

So this life is getting out of what I call a “masculine belief compartment”, i.e. a cab. In my dreams, when human made materials are used, they are symbols of masculine. So my other life is beginning to get out of a masculine belief compartment that I too share, since it’s my dream.

Is it myself sending him the message? Yes. I am telling him I love him. He doesn’t yet understand because he’s not listening to himself. So I am working with yet another life on these beliefs.

So what’s with the date of death August 2031. Is this a date for a probable death for me? Yes.

Okay, well then let me explain this Brittany such that you don’t freak out thinking that you are definitely going to die in 2031.

First I suggest you read a trilogy written by Jane Roberts “Over Soul Seven”. She was a person who in the 1970-80’s channeled an entity named Seth. He wrote many excellent books through her. In some of them he talked about probable realities.

Jane then wrote some fiction books about an Over Soul named Seven and some of his lives. This trilogy simply conveys very complex material about time, incarnations, death and probable worlds.

In the books they talk about how for every moment, we have an almost unlimited set of probable futures to choose from. We then select one probable future to become our new present. The other probable futures become our probable presents. When we choose the next new present, our old present becomes the past and our old probable presents become our probable pasts.

Time is simply an illusion. Science is slowly edging towards this viewpoint to. I have created a free website “learningfrommydreams” dot com. If you go there and click on the resources tab, you’ll find a section titled “Science” and under this you’ll find links to digital physics and several YouTube’s discussing how we likely live in a virtual reality.

Now, I want to speak about probable futures and ourselves.

I have my own theory that each night, when we leave our bodies when we sleep, one of the things we do is model the future by experiencing probable futures. We then awake and not much of our out of body experiences makes it way through our belief filters. However, some of it does.

If you’ve ever had a experience where you feel you’ve already experienced it just as it’s happening, a déjà vu, then you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Other folks, who are listening to themselves more, have dreams about probable events in the future. Often, they will freak out if they occur, thinking that when they have these types of dreams, it’s the future that will happen.

I have had such experiences BUT I’ve learnt I can alter the future. I will tell you one story…

I had a dream where I was sitting in a car with a teacher beside me who had a camera point backwards. I turned around and saw a family member being killed by a truck in an intersection.

When I awoke, I now knew that I was looking at a probable future AND that I had shown this to myself to learn. So I decided to tell my loved one. I sucked up my courage, told them about the dream and about probable futures.

They thanked me. They then did estate planning and made some other changes. Today, years later, they’re still here.

Does this mean I “saved them” from this death? No. However, my actions then changed myself and my loved ones and their actions then changed as a result.

Before we incarnate, we also select several exit points. What you are learning about is simply one of them.

I have had a near death experience 12 years ago that has changed me. Now, I don’t think death is such a big deal. That experience lead me inwards which then led me outwards to assist people where I can.

So my message to you is to not freak out over 2031. Instead take it as a way of letting yourself know that you have some spiritual heavy lifting to do, if you choose, by listening to this dream.

So back to the dream…

My first thought in a dream is usually the theme of the dream. I was “scared of the book’s power”. So I am dealing with my own sense of powerlessness.

Then “I remember in the dream thinking I had nothing to worry about because there's no way the publishers would be able to print enough unique books and ensure they get to the correct person.” This is me literally trying to interpret my dream while within the dream.

I’m laughing a bit as I write this. Why? It’s because all of us does have access to this information if only we were to listen to ourselves. Then we would discover that they are literally millions of different probable futures for us to select from in each life. From this perspective, my fears and just that…a fear based on masculine based beliefs that try to restrict my feminine abilities to communicate spiritually and learn!

I was feeling calmer at the end.

Brittany, if this was my dream, I would be very excited. If I choose to listen to this dream, it will take me on a voyage deep into myself. Instead of having to have a near death experience, as I did, you can use it to open up doors inside yourself. As with all dreams, the choice is yours.

Dreams do not dictate reality, if that's somehow what you're worried about; having a dream about dying on a specific day in no way indicates you (which it was ambiguous if it was about you in the first place) will actually die on that day. Death is a universal source of fear for humans, and anything related to it grabs our attention. You've likely had dreams about all kinds of dates on other things before, but completely ignored them as being as insignificant as they truly are. The only reason you are anxious about this dream is because it relates to the day somebody would die.

Dreams have meaning only in the sense that you can create meaning, and if you attribute meaning to your dream, then it has meaning. A dream's ability to predict anything is either entirely coincidental, or is a result of some experiences to you have leading to a logical conclusion (if you would've happened to be a drug user, for example, and you take too many drugs on a regular basis, you may have a dream about getting hurt or dying from your drug use--it doesn't mean you'll die from it, but it wouldn't be a shock to anybody that something like death could in fact occur from dangerous abuse of drugs, and so if it winds up happening in real life, sometimes falsely attribute precognitive or predictive powers to their dream). You had an interesting dream, that's it. It might be cool to think about, but if you're experiencing anything negative from thinking about it, then it's no longer healthy to give it attention. And I know you didn't say you think this means you'll die, you're just wondering about the significance of the date, which is understandable--it appears right now that it's not causing you any distress. What you have to remember really, is that we don't store our memories as individual files. You can't delete a memory by isolating it in the brain and killing that neuron or group of them. Your memories are stored as a web of connectivity between neurons in several different locations in your brain. Memories are caused by a specific pattern of firing and activation. When you dream, your brain consolidates your short-term memories into long-term memories. Several seemingly random connections and associations must necessarily occur during the day, but you just don't realize it. I can't say for certain this next part is true, but it's always been my theory that these random connections play a very large part in the content of our dreams. Those associations don't create the story necessarily, but they make a big difference in what appears and at least some of the things that happen. Given the unpredictable nature of what the interaction of these unconscious association might produce, you can wind up with dreams that may or may not have any meaning to them at all. Some may reflect your ideas or feelings about yourself or something important without you really realizing it without discussing it aloud, but at times it could also be completely meaningless and anything you derive from it is made up.

Although in order to provide a more accurate interpretation it would usually be best to have some additional general background information about you (and a description of events just before this upsetting dream), a few ideas can be tried out to see if they might fit your personal circumstances in some way.

Just to start off by saying that the language of dreams is based on metaphors and analogies just like poetry, and these range from the simple to the very complex.

And any given symbol always potentially has two poles, one that’s positive and the other which is negative. For example, an animal can appear as being friendly or as being angry in dreams.

To make things more complicated, one symbol in a dream can also have multiple layers.

Although many people would disagree, “dream dictionaries” whether online or in books generally tend to be too inflexible about the meaning of a symbol and are generally a hit-and-miss source overall.

For instance, a certain online dream dictionary states the following as one idea related to the image of a table:

“To see a round table in your dream indicates evenness, sharing, cooperation, equal rights and opportunities for all. It also symbolizes honesty, loyalty, and chivalry.”

In this description, there are no qualifying words such as “sometimes”, “perhaps” or “in certain circumstances” etc., but finding the accurate meaning of a given image in most cases has to include what the dreamer’s spontaneous memories, thoughts and feelings are regarding the image.

At the risk of boring you a little, the renowned psychiatrist Carl Jung writes about the symbolism of a table in “On the Nature of Dreams”:

“The words composing a dream-narrative have not just one meaning, but many meanings. If, for instance, someone dreams of a table, we are still far from knowing what the ‘table’ of the dreamer signifies, although the word ‘table’ sounds unambiguous enough.

For the thing we do not know is that this ‘table’ is the very one at which his father sat when he refused the dreamer all further financial help and threw him out of the house as a good-for-nothing.

The polished surface of this table stares at him as a symbol of his lamentable worthlessness in his daytime consciousness as well as in his dreams at night.

This is what our dreamer understands by ‘table’.

Therefore, we need the dreamer’s help in order to limit the multiple meanings of words to those that are essential and convincing…

… If, therefore, we establish that the ‘table’ in the dream means that fatal table, with all that this implies, then, although we have not explained the dream, we have at least interpreted one important motif in it; that is, we have recognized the subjective context in which the word ‘table’ is embedded”.

In contrast, with those dreams which contain out-of-the-ordinary images such as talking animals or fantastic astronomical events etc. etc., often there are few or no associations from the dreamer, but because these types of images come from the deepest and collective parts of the psyche, looking at the stories, myths and art etc. about a given image as created by people over thousands of years can be very helpful in providing useful parallels which can clarify its meaning.

As with any dream though, preferably the full background information about the dreamer is needed in order to provide the context out of which the dream emerged because dreams are always specifically crafted to the individual’s actual overall inner and outer circumstances.

For example, if by chance you’re around or beyond the age of 35, one possible interpretation in this case would be that yours is a “memento mori” dream (“Remember that you have to die”).

This type of dream spontaneously appears with the intent to remind the dreamer that the meridian of life has been passed and that it’s time to look at what talents, abilities or projects etc. (which were necessarily left behind during the first half of life as one established a career etc.) should be gradually worked at during the second half of life.

The dream takes place in a bookstore and the person selling the book to you is apparently a male. In addition, the dream presents the image of another male in the form of the British businessman, and there are no other women in the dream.

So it’s probably concentrating on the subject of your so-called “masculine side” or “inner man” (just like there is an “inner woman” in men).

This is a concept of the famous psychiatrist Carl Jung which has stood up very well to the investigations and experiences of professionally trained analysts over many decades.

It might be a good idea at first to give you a more detailed idea about this inner psychological figure in a woman.

So here is a definition of the term “animus” (the inner man in a woman) as found in analyst Jane Wheelwright’s book “Death of a Woman”. Although being a definition, it tends to be a little dry, by thinking over each part and relating it to your personal experience, the nature of this inner figure should gradually make more sense over time:

“Animus: The archetype in the female psyche that is the inherited pattern of potential experience of the male instinct.

This archetype underlies and is basic to a complex which is affected by the individual’s early experiences of men, primarily her father, male siblings, and the collective images of men provided by her cultural experience.

The images and affects [emotions] that attach to the complex express what is other than her female body-ego identity, such as her own unconscious maleness, the unconscious, the inferior function [“inferior” in the sense of “less developed”].

The animus assumes a generalized image of the individual’s male ideal, which strongly influences her selection of a mate.

Consciously related to, the animus – presented in dreams as a single figure or a group – functions as inspirator or bridge to the unconscious as source of creative, mental, or spiritual initiative and well-spring of potentiality for development. The animus functions as guide to and expedites the pursuit of impersonal endeavours.

When not consciously related to, the animus causes a woman to be opinionated, argumentative, rigid, controlling, and excessively critical of herself or others”

A bookstore is of course related to “words” and issues linked to “mind” and the “intellect”.
